Hello and welcome back.
You might not see it,
But I say this with a big smile on my face.
I'm proud of you for showing up again.
I'll be the first to say that practices like meditation are hard to stick to.
Because the return is an instance.
We don't get the same hit like we do when we exercise.
So of course it's going to be harder to stay committed.
We have become conditioned to seek instant gratification.
So when we don't get the immediate feeling of fulfillment or satisfaction.
We push it to the side and try something new.
One of my favourite sayings that encouraged me to continue to show up daily to my practice is easy choices,
Hard life.
Hard Choices.
Easy Less.
You know,
If this practice was easy,
It simply wouldn't be so profound.
Continuing to show up every day,
Even though it may be hard,
And even if the return isn't instant,
Will lead to an easier life.
See it like an investment.
Every time you sit and practice,
You are making a deposit in the bank.
With consistency and devotion.
You will have accumulated a good savings base so that when crisis hits,
You will remain stable and grounded.
You might not see it,
But the work is happening behind the scenes and you will soon realize that the results or the return are seen in your life and not in your meditation practice.
We don't meditate to get better at meditating.
We meditate to get better at life.
So with that being said.
Let's dive right in and make our second deposit in the bank.
Closing down your eyes if you haven't already or holding a soft gaze down towards the floor.
Allowing the body to settle here.
And be still.
Making any adjustments to feel more at ease.
Let us take three deep breaths together.
Inhaling fully through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
Breathing in deeply.
And releasing it out through the mouth.
Last one allowing your belly,
Ribs and chest to expand.
Before contracting and letting go of your breath.
Finding your steady breath here.
Coming back to breathing in and out of your nose.
Allowing each inhale and exhale to flow effortlessly.
Following the breath like a wave.
Observing how the belly rises and falls.
Expanding.
And contracting.
Just like a balloon.
The breath serves as an anchor.
We can always come to the breath to bring us back to the present moment.
Inhaling.
And exhaling.
Breathing in.
Noticing where the breath feels more alive for you.
Breathing out.
And you notice the warm air escaping your nostrils.
Breathing in.
Is your breath short and shallow up at your chest?
Breathing out.
So there's your breath.
Feel deeper and fuller down at your belly.
Breathing in,
Slowing down the pace of your breathing.
Breathing out.
Extending the exhale even longer.
Continuing like this.
Connecting deeper and deeper with your breath.
Notice if you may have drifted off into thought.
If you have,
That's okay.
This is your opportunity to bring your attention back to your anchor.
Back to your breath.
The act of gently guiding your attention to your breath.
Is another bicep curl for your brain.
Congratulate yourself when this happens.
You my friend.
Are strengthening your mental muscle of attention and focus.
And this is a sign that you are becoming more self-aware.
Your practice is becoming stronger.
But we need to keep making those deposits in the bank.
Remember that you are learning a new skill here.
Go gently on yourself.
You are working against a lifetime of distraction and constantly doing.
So taking the time to fully stop.
And just be is going to feel new and different.
You are finally taking the time.
To get out of your head and back into your body and breath.
Easy choices.
Hard life.
Hard choices.
Easy life.
Gently breathing more space into your body.
Slowly adding some gentle movement to your fingers and your toes.
Taking a final big breath here.
And when you're ready.
Opening your eyes.
Just like we did in the first video.
I'm now going to give you the space to bring pen to paper.
Stream of consciousness is a form of journaling where we let the pen take the lead.
There are no prompts or questions to ponder on.
This is your opportunity to tune in and listen to the thoughts that are circulating in your mind.
And write them down.
Anything and everything.
See it like a brain dump.
And if you don't know where to start.
Write that down.
I don't know what to say.
Be the scribe to your thoughts and see what lands on your page.
Set a timer for 10 minutes.
And let go of the judgment.
Just ride.
Perhaps you felt inspired by the words I shared.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for our final video.
The light in me sees the light in you.
Namaste.
