Find a comfortable position.
Allow your body to settle.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
And gently breathe out.
Again.
Breathe in and breathe out.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to become more present.
For the next few moments,
There is nowhere else you need to be.
You are simply here.
Now,
Imagine yourself standing at the very peak of a high mountain.
You have climbed all the way to the top.
You are high above everything.
So high that you feel close to the sky.
Look around.
You are completely alone.
There is no one else here.
And for once,
You don't need anyone else to be here.
This is your space.
In front of you.
Growing along the mountain.
Our beautiful green trees.
They are close enough for you to see their branches and leaves.
But they do not block your view.
Beyond the trees.
You can see the mountains and landscape.
Stretching into the distance.
Above you is a vast blue sky.
Take a moment to look around.
The world looks different from up here.
Everything below you seems smaller.
The roads,
The trees,
The land.
The things that once seemed so large.
Feel the cool mountain air entering your lungs.
Notice how fresh it feels.
How easily you can breathe.
The air is clean.
The breeze is gentle.
You can hear the subtle sounds of nature around you.
Perhaps the movement of leaves,
The distant sound of birds.
The quiet movement of the wind.
Nothing is demanding your attention.
Nothing is chasing you.
You are simply standing here,
Safe,
Comfortable,
And free.
Take a moment to notice what you are wearing.
You are dressed comfortably for the journey.
Kayak shorts,
A white short sleeve t-shirt,
Hiking boots beneath your feet,
And a loose bandana tied around your neck.
Feel your feet firmly planted.
On the mountain.
Feel the ground supporting you.
You made it to the peak.
Now slowly spread your arms wide.
Lift them toward the sky.
Open your chest.
And take a deep breath of the cool,
Fresh,
Healing air.
Breathe in.
And breathe out.
Feel the sunlight warming your skin.
The sun is bright.
But gentle enough for you to see the beauty of nature clearly.
Look at the blue sky.
Look at the green trees in front of you.
Look beyond them at the mountains.
Take it all in.
You are safe here.
A place where you can step away from the noise of the outside world.
A place where your problems don't have to follow you.
Allow them to remain far below you.
You don't need to carry them to the top of this mountain.
Take another slow breath.
And release it.
Now bring your attention to the trees directly in front of you.
Look at them carefully.
Notice their branches.
Their leaves.
The way they move gently with the wind.
There are many trees in front of you.
For this meditation,
Each tree represents a thought.
A thought that has been living somewhere inside your mind.
You don't need to walk through the trees.
You don't need to climb.
You don't need to become surrounded by them.
Remain exactly where you are.
Stand safely at the peak of the mountain.
Look at the trees in front of you.
You can see the trees.
You can see the sky.
You can see the landscape beyond them.
You are observing and sometimes observation is where clarity begins.
Now look at the trees.
Allow one tree to catch your attention.
You don't have to choose it logically.
Simply notice which one draws your attention.
Look at it.
Notice its shape,
Its branch,
Its leaves.
Notice how it stands against the blue sky.
Imagine that this tree represents one thought that has been occupying your mind.
You don't have to push the thought away.
You don't have to judge it.
You don't have to make it disappear.
Instead,
Gently ask the tree.
What are you trying to show me?
And then become quiet.
Listen.
Don't force an answer.
Simply notice what rises within you.
Maybe it's a word.
Maybe it's a feeling.
Maybe it's a memory.
Maybe it's an image.
Maybe it's something you already knew.
Weren't ready to acknowledge,
Or maybe nothing comes at all.
And that's okay,
Too.
You are simply listening.
Take a slow breath in and breathe out.
When you feel ready,
Allow your attention to move to another tree.
Look at it.
Notice its branches,
The way the wind moves through its leaves.
And ask,
What are you trying to show me?
Then listen.
One thought at a time,
One tree at a time.
You don't have to solve everything today.
You don't have to understand everything today.
You are simply giving your mind the space to speak.
Some thoughts may ask for your attention.
Some may remind you of something important.
Some may reveal a feeling you have been carrying,
And some thoughts may simply be passing through.
You don't have to act on every thought.
A thought can exist without becoming a command.
A feeling can exist without controlling you.
And a memory can exist without defining you.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to remain on the mountain,
Grounded,
Safe,
Present,
And now.
Imagine stepping back slightly from the trees.
Look at them as a whole.
Look beyond them.
Look at the mountains stretching in the distance.
Look at the open sky above you.
Look at how much space surrounds you.
The things that seem enormous when we're standing among them now look smaller from the peak.
Your thoughts can be like that too.
Sometimes you don't need to eliminate a thought.
You simply need enough distance to see it clearly.
You don't have to fight your mind,
You can observe it,
You can listen to it,
You can learn from it.
And you can decide what deserves your attention.
Take a slow breath in and slowly breathe out.
Ask yourself,
What do I understand now that I couldn't see before?
Don't search for the perfect answer.
Simply allow something to come forward.
Maybe it's a realization,
It's a feeling,
It's a sense of peace.
Or it is simply the understanding that you're allowed to pause before reacting.
Whatever comes,
Let it be enough.
Take another deep breath,
And as you breathe out,
Imagine releasing anything you no longer need to carry.
You are still standing at the peak.
The trees are in front of you.
The sky is still above you.
The mountains are still stretching into the distance,
And you are still here,
Safe,
Grounded,
Comfortable,
Free.
Remind yourself.
I can observe my thoughts without becoming my thoughts.
I can listen to myself without judging myself.
I can create space between a thought and my response.
I don't have to solve everything at once.
I can find clarity by giving myself peace.
Take one final deep breath of the fresh mountain air and slowly exhale.
Now look around your mountain sanctuary one last time.
Look at the trees,
The sky,
At the landscape,
And feel the ground beneath your feet.
Remember this feeling.
You can return to the mountain whenever you need a moment of peace.
Whenever your mind feels crowded.
If your thoughts feel overwhelming,
You need perspective.
You can close your eyes.
Take a deep breath and imagine yourself standing here again.
At the peak,
With the trees in front of you,
The sky above you,
And the world stretching out.
Before you.
You don't have to run away from your thoughts.
You simply need enough space to see them clearly.
Now gently begin bringing your awareness back to your body.
Notice your breathing.
Notice the surface supporting you.
Notice the room around you.
Take one final slow breath in.
And breathe out.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
And carry the clarity you found in the mountain with you.
