And find a place of stillness.
Close the eyes if that feels comfortable,
Or just find a soft focal point with your gaze.
And in your mind,
I invite you to picture a place that feels peaceful,
Calming,
Perhaps even safe.
It can be real or made up.
It could be somewhere from a movie or a book,
Somewhere you have actually been,
Or a place that you completely dream up in your mind.
If it's real,
Just make sure it's not a place that has ever been unsafe.
This place should be a place that brings you peace and a sense of calm and doesn't activate upsetting memories,
Grief-stricken memories,
Trigger any discomfort.
Once you've found this place,
Start to bring it to life with all of your senses.
Notice what you would see here.
Colors,
Shapes,
Objects.
Are there people around in this place,
Or animals?
Are there natural elements,
Like trees or flowers?
What temperature is this place?
What textures are present in this place?
Are there any smells that go along with this place?
Are there any objects or any tastes that accompany this place?
Are there any sounds?
Now shift your awareness while holding all of those details to noticing where this place comes alive in your body.
Where do you feel this place inside?
You might bring a hand to rest in any places in your body that you're noticing pleasant sensations.
Notice those sensations as you hold all of the details of this beautiful,
Peaceful,
Safe and calming place.
And take a couple of long,
Intentional inhales and exhales.
Allow yourself to feel 5% more peaceful.
Take one more long inhale and exhale.
Let everything go and just notice your experience right now in this moment.
Notice what's happening in your mind,
In your body,
In your heart.
I encourage you to revisit this place anytime you're feeling overwhelmed,
Dysregulated,
Anytime you need a sense of peace and comfort and feelings of safety.
Be well.
