Hello,
I am Rashid Zahidi,
Creator and author of the EmuGym journal,
A journal and workbook for emotional awareness and for balancing your wheel of life.
This meditation is about the courage to start over.
Begin by finding a comfortable position.
Allow your body to settle.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let your breath become a little deeper,
A little slower.
With every exhale,
Feel yourself arriving more fully in this moment.
Take a slow breath in,
And then a slow breath out.
Feel the weight of your body supported beneath you.
Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Let every sensation remind you that you are here,
Right now,
In the middle of a moment that is completely safe.
Allow your mind to settle like dust in still air.
When you are ready,
Bring your awareness to the chapter of your life that has recently changed or ended.
You don't need to analyze it or to relive it.
Just acknowledge that it existed and that it shaped you.
Let yourself feel the weight of that truth and the softness of acceptance.
With every breath,
Imagine a gentle light surrounding that closed chapter.
Now,
Not to erase it,
But to honor it.
Acknowledge quietly in your mind,
This was part of my journey.
Now,
Bring your attention to the space inside you that feels empty or uncertain.
Instead of filling it with thought,
Just notice it.
Notice its shape,
Its texture,
Its openness.
With your breath,
Invite spaciousness into that area.
Like opening a window and letting in fresh air.
Feel your inhale expanding this inner space,
Softly,
Naturally,
Without force.
Let your exhale release any tightness or resistance around the unknown.
You don't have to know what comes next.
Just allow space for what could grow.
Shift your attention to the parts of you that feel outdated or heavy.
Old roles,
Old labels,
Old expectations.
See them as garments you once wore with purpose.
Garments that protected you,
Shaped you,
Or helped you survive.
Picture yourself gently setting them down.
Not with judgment,
But with appreciation.
As you lay each one garment,
Old garment that is,
Aside,
Repeat inwardly,
I am allowed to outgrow who I was.
Feel the lightness that enters your body as you release these layers.
Now bring awareness to the center of your chest,
The space of courage,
Endurance,
And quiet strength.
Imagine a small flame there,
Steady,
Warm,
And wavering.
Each breath you take nourishes this flame,
Allowing it to glow a little brighter,
A little steadier.
Feel how the warmth spreads through your body,
Down your arms,
Across your back,
Through your legs,
A reminder that your strength has never left you.
Pause here and acknowledge,
Softly,
The strength I need is already within me.
Now imagine a gentle horizon in front of you.
Not a specific scene,
Not a plan,
Not a destination,
Just a horizon.
Open,
Quiet,
And defined.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to soften into this sense of possibility.
Not rushing toward it,
Not forcing it to be anything,
Just resting in the openness of it.
Feel how the absence of certainty can also be the presence of potential.
Let this spaciousness settle into your body like a calm,
Quiet truth.
Take a deep inhale and a long,
Slow exhale.
Feel your body grounded and steady.
Feel your breath calm and smooth.
Feel your inner landscape lighter,
Clearer,
More spacious.
Place one hand on your chest,
And if it feels right,
And silently,
Offer gratitude to yourself for showing up,
For sitting with your inner world,
For creating space for renewal.
When you're ready,
Take one more breath and gently open your eyes.
Here you go,
Clean,
Calm,
And ready to get back into life.
