Hello,
I'm Rashid Zahidi.
This short practice is for connection.
Not the busy kind,
The simple kind.
Reaching out to one person or writing a thank you even if you never send it.
Find a comfortable seat.
Let your feet rest on the floor if you can.
Soften your shoulders.
Close your eyes or keep a soft gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And a longer breath out through your mouth.
Again,
In.
And out.
Let the day settle for a moment.
You don't need to fix anything right now.
Bring to mind one person,
Someone who has shown up for you.
Or someone you've been meaning to check on.
It can be family.
Hey friend.
A coworker,
Or someone you haven't talked to in a while.
Don't overthink the choice.
The first.
Face that feels right is enough.
Notice what comes up when you picture them.
Warmth.
Hazard detection.
Guilt.
Gratitude.
All of it is welcome.
You're not deciding the whole relationship.
You're just opening a small door.
Ask yourself quietly.
What is one honest sentence I could say to this person?
It might be,
I've been thinking about you.
Thank you for.
.
.
And complete that.
Or how are you,
But really,
How are you?
Keep it short.
Keep it true.
If reaching out today feels like too much,
That's okay.
You can write a thank you note instead on paper,
In your phone,
Or in your journal.
Name what they did or what they are to you.
In one or two lines.
You can send it later or keep it as practice.
The point is to move toward connection,
Not Performance.
Feel your breath again.
And and out.
Imagine that one small act of connection.
A text,
A call,
A note,
Landing gently.
No pressure for a perfect reply.
You did your part by showing up.
When you're ready.
Open your eyes.
Carry that one sentence or thank you.
With you.
Do it today if you can.
If not today,
Pick a time before the week ends and keep the promise.
Thank you for practicing with me.
