Welcome back to the show where we explore the tools that help us grow,
Evolve and connect more deeply with our purpose.
Today,
We're diving into one of the most powerful tools given to humanity for growth and self-actualization,
The Torah.
This is a continuation of last week's episode,
Which is how we can go deeper into ourselves and connect more.
And we spoke about the Torah being one of the greatest tools.
So now we're going to go a little deeper into what the Torah is.
So the Torah isn't just an ancient book.
Sitting on a shelf.
It's a living,
Breathing guide that was given to the Jewish people over 3,
300 years ago at Mount Sinai.
It was transmitted by Moses.
It has been carefully passed down throughout the generations,
Both as the written word,
What many know as the Bible,
And through an oral tradition that reveals its deeper layers.
So you see the written Torah,
The five books of Moses,
Along with the prophets and writings,
Which are called the Tanakh in Hebrew,
The foundation,
But on its own it can be cryptic and layered with mysteries.
That's where the oral Torah steps in.
The oral Torah includes the Mishnah,
Which are the laws in a basic form,
The Talmud,
Which is the discussion of the laws,
The Midrash,
Which discusses many of the Torah verses at a deeper level,
And then you have the mystical teachings of the Kabbalah,
The secrets of the Torah.
Together they form a complete system that guides us not only on how to live,
But how on how to understand the very fabric of existence.
In Jewish Torah,
This unified study is called Pardes,
Which means orchard or paradise,
Which is speaking about the Garden of Eden,
But it's also an acronym for four levels of interpretation.
Pshat,
For Pagan Hebrew,
Is the simple,
Straightforward meaning.
Resh,
Remez,
The hinted,
Elusive meaning.
And then there's drash,
The moral and the philosophical lessons.
And then you have the Samech of Pardes,
So when we can connect and unlock all four levels,
It's like stepping into a paradise of wisdom.
The Torah then reveals not just its own secrets,
But the secrets of the universe,
Space,
Time,
Soul,
And consciousness.
And here's where it gets even more profound.
And our daily lives.
So let's talk a little about the inner life of the Torah,
The soul of the Torah,
Which is where the Kabbalah comes in.
Kabbalah means receiving and it teaches us that everything in the physical world has a spiritual counterpart.
As above,
So below.
As below,
So above.
It maps out the relationships that govern existence and lead us back to the source of all complexity,
The infinite creator Hashem.
So think about it like this.
Just as your body has organs,
Veins and joints,
But it's your soul that gives the body life.
The Torah's laws and structures are like the body.
You need the body obviously,
But you need the soul also.
So the Kabbalah,
That is the soul.
It animates,
Inspires and gives us the motivation to come closer to Hashem.
And isn't that the ultimate goal of our journey in this world?
To draw closer to the source,
To our Creator?
To peel back the layers and find deeper meaning in who we are and why we're here.
So whether you're approaching Torah for the first time or you're deep into your study,
Remember,
It's not just a book of laws.
It's a portal to self-actualization,
To the mysteries of creation,
And to an intimate connection with the divine.
