Singing Bowl Conversations With Gongs And Piano #3
by Bob Frye
This is a 42-minute-long conversation between 20 singing bowls ranging from a deeply resonant 15" mother bowl in the 2nd octave up to accent bowls in the 5th octave, two Symphonic Gongs measuring 28" and 38", and shimmering, echoing distant pianos. A wide variety of mallets invite a wide range of timbers and resonances and drones, producing monaural beats that move the brain into more relaxed states of consciousness via brainwave entrainment. Gorgeous harmonic collages sound around the E and B major pentatonic scales, producing tonalities not uncommon to the Jazz Piano vocabulary. Shimmering arpeggiated pianos echo across the sound field, providing a lovely counterpoint to the droning resonances of the E2 bowl and gongs.
