You've been hard on yourself today,
Maybe about something you did or something you did not do,
Or the way you handled something that you keep replaying and wishing had gone differently.
Maybe it's not even one specific thing.
Just a general sense that you're falling short somehow,
That you should be further along,
That other people seem to manage this more easily than you do.
The voice that says that is your inner critic.
And today it has been loud.
This is your EFT tapping session for releasing the inner critic and coming back to yourself.
Not to silence the voice permanently.
Not to pretend everything is fine.
But to loosen its grip on you right now in this moment.
So that you can have space to breathe again.
To appreciate life.
And enjoy.
Find a comfortable position.
But your body subtle.
Close your eyes if that feels comfortable.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And a long breath out through your mouth.
Again,
Breathing in.
And letting go.
One more time,
Inhale slowly.
And exhale fully.
Allow yourself the grace to relax fully into this moment,
To be here,
Present,
Now.
Before we begin tapping.
Bring to mind the way that you've been treating yourself today.
The specific thing the inner critic has been saying,
The tone it's been using,
How heavy it feels to be on the receiving end of your own harshest judgment.
I want you to give that heaviness,
That feeling,
A number from zero to 10.
10 being as hard on yourself as possible,
Deeply critical.
And zero being completely at ease with yourself,
Accepting and free.
Note that number.
We're going to move it.
Bring your fingers to the karate chop point on the side of your hand.
And began tapping gently and repeating after me.
Even though I've been really hard on myself.
Even though I've been really hard on myself.
I deeply and completely accept myself.
I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though my inner critic is loud today.
Even though my inner critic is loud today.
I choose to be gentle with myself now.
I choose to be gentle with myself now.
Even though I've been replaying what went wrong,
Even though I've been replaying what went wrong,
I'm willing to give myself kindness.
I'm willing to give myself kindness.
Stop tapping on the side of your hand.
And bring your fingers to the inner edge of your eyebrows.
Begin tapping softly and repeating after me.
This inner critic.
This inner critic.
Tapping on the outside of the eye.
It has been so loud today.
It has been so loud today.
Tapping under the eye.
I keep replaying everything that went wrong.
I keep replaying everything that went wrong.
Tappy under the nose.
I should have done better.
I should have done better.
Tapping on the chin.
I should be further along.
I should be further along.
Tapping on the collarbone.
Why can't I get this right?
Why can't I get this right?
Tapping under the arm.
I am so hard on myself.
I am so hard on myself.
Tapping on the top of the head.
This inner critic.
This heaviness.
This inner critic.
This heaviness.
Stop tapping.
Take a slow breath in.
And release it completely.
Take another breath.
Put your hand on your heart if that helps you connect with it.
And as you release.
Let go.
Relax.
Open.
We'll move now to the second round of tapping.
Starting with the inner eyebrow.
I am ready to release this now.
I am ready to release this now.
Tapping on the side of the eye,
I release the replaying and the ruminating.
I release the replaying and the ruminating.
Tapping under the eye.
What happened has already happened.
What happened has already happened.
Tapping under the nose.
I cannot change it by judging myself.
I cannot change it by judging myself.
Tapping on the chin,
I release the should-haves.
I release the should-haves.
Tapping on the collarbone.
I did the best I could.
I did the best I could.
Tapping under the arm,
And maybe that's enough.
And maybe that's enough.
Tapping on the top of the head.
What if I can release the inner critic now?
What if I can release the inner critic now?
Stop tapping.
Take a deep breath in.
And release your breath slowly and completely.
We'll move now to the final round of tapping.
Starting with the inner eyebrow.
I am on my own side.
I am on my own side.
Tapping on the side of the eye.
I speak to myself with kindness.
I speak to myself with kindness.
Tapering under the eye.
I am doing my best.
And that is enough.
I am doing my best.
And that is enough.
Tapping under the nose.
I release the inner critic now.
It does not serve me.
I release the inner critic now.
It does not serve me.
Tapping on the chin.
I am allowed to be imperfect.
I am human.
I am allowed to be imperfect.
I am human.
Tapping on the collarbone.
I am allowed to begin again.
I am allowed to begin again.
Tapping under the arm.
I choose kindness over criticism.
I choose kindness over criticism.
And tapping on the top of the head.
I am enough exactly as I am.
I am enough exactly as I am.
Stop tapping.
Take one long,
Slow breath in.
And let it go completely.
Let your hands rest where they fall.
Let your face soften and relax.
Let your jaw release.
Your shoulders drop.
Your whole body settles.
Now check back in with that number from 0 to 10.
Remember,
10 is having a very harsh inner critic.
In zero,
Is treating yourself with kindness and compassion.
Where are you now?
Notice the shift.
However large or small.
That is the inner critic beginning to lose its grip.
That is you.
Coming back to yourself.
Opening to the possibility.
That you can be kind and generous with yourself.
Here's something worth sitting with.
The inner critic is not trying to destroy you.
It is trying to keep you safe.
It genuinely believes that if it pushes hard enough,
You'll finally get it right.
But here is what it's never understood.
You do not grow through harshness.
You do not become better by treating yourself as if you're already broken.
You grow through kindness.
You grow through the safety of knowing that you're on your own side,
Even when things go wrong.
The voice that says you should be better is not wisdom.
It is fear wearing wisdom's clothing.
And today,
You loosened its grip just a little.
That is enough.
That is more than enough.
You can return to this practice as often as you need to.
And repeat it to reinforce the message.
That you are here.
You are whole.
You are beautiful.
