Welcome to the imagination practice,
The inner safe place,
A practice where you can use your imagination to find feelings of safety.
Begin with lying down your body,
And I will start by recalling one or several moments in your life in which you felt safe.
If you cannot recall any such moment,
That's okay.
Imagine the safety and comfort you would feel if you could experience safety and comfort.
And as an inspiration,
We can use images of human or animal mothers together with their babies with their offspring.
Imagining them can help us to pinpoint what it could feel like to feel warmth and safety.
Try to pinpoint as precisely as possible what it is like for you to feel safe.
And based on this experience now,
Imagine a place containing all those qualities that you associate with safety,
A place that is just yours and where everything is possible.
This place can be on earth,
It can be an island,
But it certainly doesn't have to be,
It can be a different planet.
Let your thoughts or fantasies and inner imagination emerge of a place where you feel utterly safe and sound.
Now give this place boundaries,
Boundaries of your choosing,
Boundaries that allow only you to determine which beings are permitted to enter this safe space.
Of course,
You may invite any creatures you would like,
Pets,
Helpers.
I recommend,
If possible,
To not invite humans,
Rather loving guides,
Helpers,
Animals,
Beings who love and support you.
Now check to see if you,
With all your senses,
Feel good in this place.
Check first whether what you see with your eyes is pleasing to your eyes.
If there is anything that isn't pleasing,
Change it now.
Now check whether what you hear is pleasing to the ear.
If not,
Change it so that everything you hear is pleasing.
Is the temperature right?
If not,
Change that now as well.
Can you move your body such that you feel completely at ease with any position you would want to take?
Stretching while standing,
Perhaps jumping,
Dancing,
But also lying down or maybe sitting and resting.
Can you assume any position you feel comfortable in here?
Are the smells you smell pleasant?
Change the smells to create a total sense of well-being.
Now check if anything else is missing and practice to change it until it's just right for you.
If you now feel and sense a total sense of well-being in your inner safe place,
I invite you to establish a small gesture that you can use in the future to come back to this place.
For example,
Touching a finger or looking at a piece of jewelry that you may own.
If you like,
Make this gesture now or think about this gesture now.
To conclude this exercise,
We're going to now leave our safe space knowing that we can always return and start perceiving once again now the boundaries of your body.
Carefully register the contact points between your body and the floor.
And slowly,
In your own pace,
Return to the room with your full attention.
This meditation and imagination practice is now complete.
