Have you ever come home after a stressful day and realized that the people you love are getting the version of you that has nothing left to give? Throughout the day, we absorb frustration, pressure, anger and stress—almost like a sponge soaking up dirty water. Even when we are trying to hold everything inside, eventually that stress begins to spill out around the people closest to us. In this video, I use a simple sponge demonstration to explain why we need a transition ritual between the demands of the day and reconnecting with our families or partners. Taking just 5–10 minutes to “wring out the sponge” through breathwork, meditation, reflection or physical movement can help you process what you are carrying and return to the people you love with more presence. You cannot avoid absorbing stress, but you can choose how you release it.
