Good morning.
Before you jump into your day,
Before school,
Before practice,
Before all the things you have to do,
Let's take a few minutes just for you.
Find a comfortable position.
You can sit,
Lie down,
Or even stay curled up under a blanket if you'd like.
And take a slow breath in through your nose.
And let it out from your mouth.
Let's do that again.
Breathing in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
One last time,
Big breath in.
.
.
And slow breath out.
Now check in with yourself.
How are you feeling today?
Maybe you're excited about something.
Maybe you're nervous.
Maybe you're tired.
Maybe you're worried about a test,
A game,
A friendship,
Or something happening at home.
Or maybe you're thinking,
Honestly,
I'd rather stay in bed.
Whatever you're feeling right now is okay.
You don't need to change it.
You don't need to fix it.
Just notice it.
Take another slow breath.
As you breathe in,
Imagine filling up with calm.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine letting go of a little bit of stress.
One more time,
Breathing in calm.
And breathing out stress.
No,
I want you to remember something important.
You do not have to be perfect today.
Nobody is.
You don't have to get every answer right.
You don't have to win every game.
You don't have to say the perfect thing.
You just need to do your best with the day you're given.
And your best might look different today than it did yesterday.
That's okay.
Let's practice a few thoughts together.
You can repeat them in your mind if you'd like.
I can handle today.
I can take things one step at a time.
I don't have to be perfect.
I can learn from mistakes.
I am stronger than I think.
I can ask for help when I need it.
I can be kind to myself.
Take a slow breath in.
In and out.
Think about one challenge you might face today.
Maybe it's something at school.
Maybe it's talking to someone.
Maybe it's trying something new.
Imagine yourself meeting that challenge.
Not perfectly.
Just bravely.
Maybe your hands feel nervous.
Maybe your heart beats a little faster.
But you do it anyway.
That's what courage looks like.
Courage isn't never being scared.
Courage is doing the next right thing even when you're nervous.
Now think about one thing you can do today to make somebody's day a little better.
A kind word,
Including some love.
Helping a classmate.
Thanking a teacher.
Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.
And here's one more thing to remember.
No matter what happens today,
Your value doesn't change.
Not because of your grades,
Not because of your score,
Not because of what other people think of you.
You matter because you are you.
Take one final deep breath in and slowly let it go.
As you get ready to start your day remembered.
You are capable.
You are growing.
You are learning.
You are enough exactly as you are.
Now wiggle your fingers.
Wiggle your toes.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Take on the day,
One step at a time.
You've got this!
I believe in you.
I hope to see you back here this evening for your decompression session.
