Zane!
Zane!
Where is that bunny?
Zane's mama looked everywhere for him.
She peeked behind the little oak tree.
She looked beside the tall sunflowers.
She even checked near the tiny creek.
Where the butterflies loved to dance.
Where could my little bunny be?
Mama whispered with a smile.
Then,
Through the colorful wildflowers,
She spotted her little bunny.
He wasn't lost at all.
He had been quietly picking flowers for his mama.
His tiny paws were full of daisies,
Buttercups,
Lavender,
And clover blossoms.
Oh,
Zane,
Mama Bunny smiled softly.
These are the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen.
Zane giggled.
I picked everyone with love.
Mama Bunny wrapped him in the biggest,
Warmest bunny hug.
The flowers are beautiful,
She whispered,
But my favorite gift is you.
Zane rested his little head on Mama's shoulder.
The afternoon sun was beginning to turn golden.
The breeze gently swayed the flowers back and forth.
And forward.
Almost as if the meadow itself was rocking to sleep.
Would you like to help me find one more adventure?
Before bedtime?
Mama asks.
Zane nodded excitedly.
Together,
They skip down the tiny winding path.
Along the way,
They met Mrs.
Bluebird,
Gathering soft feathers for her nest.
Good evening,
Little bunny,
She chirped.
Zane cheerfully handed her one of the tiny flowers.
For your home.
Mrs.
Bluebird smiled.
Thank you,
Sweet bunny.
She gave Zane a soft blue feather.
To remember kindness.
Zane tucked it gently behind his little bunny ear.
Soon,
They came across Mr.
Turtle.
He was walking very slowly.
Very.
Very slowly.
Good evening,
Mr.
Turtle said with a smile.
Where you going?
Asked Zane.
I'm going home,
Mr.
Turtle answered.
I never hurry.
Mama Bunny smiled.
Sometimes the slowest walks are the most peaceful.
So Zane slowed his tiny hops instead of hopping fast.
He took little bunny hops instead.
Pause.
Pause.
He noticed things he hadn't seen before.
Tiny ladybugs resting on leaves.
A dragonfly sparkling in the sunlight.
Little ants carrying crumbs much bigger than themselves.
The meadow felt peaceful.
Everything moved exactly as it was meant to.
As the sky slowly turned pink and orange,
Mama Bunny said,
Let's gather a few wishes.
Wishes?
Zayn asked.
Mama nodded.
Every dandelion puff.
Hull's wishes waiting to fly.
They found a fluffy white dandelion.
Mama closed her eyes.
I wish for happy hearts.
Zane closed his eyes.
I wish everyone has someone to hug.
They blew.
The tiny seeds floated in the air.
Into the evening sky,
Higher.
.
.
And higher.
Until they disappeared into the clouds The stars were beginning to twinkle.
One by one.
Tiny life.
Blinking away.
A family of fireflies joined them.
They danced through the tall grass like tiny floating lanterns.
Zane giggled softly.
They're playing tag.
They're saying goodnight,
Mama whispered.
All fireflies circled around them once.
Twice,
Then drifted away towards the forest.
By now the moon had climbed into the sky.
Around.
Burned.
Gentle.
Getting brighter.
The whole meadow glowed with silver moonlight.
It's bedtime,
Mama Bunny said quietly.
Together,
They walked home.
Their little bunny burrow was warm and cozy.
Beneath the roots of an old oak tree.
Inside,
Everything smelled like lavender and fresh hay.
Mama placed the flowers Zane had picked into a vase.
They'll remind me of today.
Zane smiled proudly.
Mama helped him wash his tiny little paws.
She brushed his soft bunny ears.
She tucked his favorite little blanket around him.
His stuffed bunny was already waiting beside his pillow.
Mama kissed his forehead.
Would you like a lullaby?
They nodded sleepily.
Mama began to hum.
Hmm.
Hmm.
A slow,
Gentle,
Peaceful tune Outside,
The crickets chirped softly.
The wind whispered through the grass.
The leaves rustled overhead.
The moon watched over every sleeping bunny.
Mama gently rubs Zane's back.
Close your little bunny eyes,
She whispered.
Tomorrow,
There will be more flowers to discover.
More butterflies to meet?
More adventures waiting.
But tonight,
Your only job is to rest.
Zane yawned.
A great deal.
Big,
Sleepy,
Bunny yawn.
His breathing became slower.
Yeah.
And out.
Arm,
In and out.
His tiny paws relaxed.
Beneath the blanket.
His floppy ears rested softly against his pillow.
Mama Bunny smiled.
I love you all the way to the moon.
And all the way back.
I love you more.
Zane whispered,
His eyes almost closed.
The stars twinkled outside.
The fireflies settled into the grass.
Flowers folded their petals for the night.
The breeze became softer.
And softer.
And softer.
Mama Bunny quietly watched her little bunny dream.
Dreams filled with butterflies,
Wildflowers sunshine,
And warm hugs.
And before long.
Little Zane Bunny was fast asleep.
Love.
More.
Dreaming peacefully.
Until the morning sun would gently wake him for another beautiful adventure.
Tight little bunny.
