Begin seated,
Standing,
Or lying down.
Allowing your eyes to close.
Or having an unfocused downward gaze.
If it's in your practice,
Taking a few deep breaths to settle in as you relax into your posture.
Bringing your hands into gassho or prayer position at your heart center.
Begin to bring your attention to your hands.
Maybe where the palms meet or at the tips of your fingers.
Take note of how they feel.
Are they warm or cold?
Are they relaxed or tense?
Take some time to really get to know your hands.
Now,
In your mind,
Dive into the space between your hands.
Notice what you're sensing in this space.
Is their warmth.
Is there electricity?
Is it bright or dark?
Are there colors?
Be curious with your investigation.
Maybe try bringing your hands slightly apart from one another.
Did this change anything?
Play with bringing your hands further apart and closer together.
Take note of how it feels as we practice in silence for just a moment.
Now I invite you to bring your hands back together.
In gassho or prayer position at your heart center.
This is the time to repeat any mantras,
Sayings,
Expressions.
Or in this case,
The Reiki principles.
Remember to take your time.
Breathe between each recitation.
And be curious with your investigation of the words and their meaning.
Just for today.
Do not anger.
Just for today.
Do not worry.
Just for today.
Show gratitude.
Just for today.
Work diligently and honestly.
Just for today,
Be kind to all living things.
Now,
I invite you to bring your attention back to your poems again.
Feel the pulse of energy between your hands.
Ask yourself,
Has it changed at all?
Are there any different sensations here than there were before?
What's changed in the feeling between your palms after reciting your mantras,
Phrases,
And Reiki precepts?
Be curious with the investigation of your own body from the inside out.
Now allow your arms to relax.
Allow your palms to rest gently on your legs,
The floor,
The arms of the chair.
And bring your attention to your feet.
Wherever they are.
Take note of the weight of your feet on the floor,
Mat,
Or cushion.
Take note of the temperature of the air on your skin.
Or the sounds in the room.
Are there any odors in the room?
Are they pleasant,
Unpleasant,
Or neutral to you?
Begin to bring movement into your fingers and toes.
Bringing subtle movement into the body.
Waking up your physical body.
And becoming more present here,
Now.
If it's in your practice,
Maybe taking a few deep breaths.
And when you're ready,
Allowing your eyes to open and fully returning to the room.
