If you found me and this particular video,
I'm going to guess that your day maybe is a little stressful.
Maybe it's not going so great.
Maybe your inbox is a mess.
Maybe the kids are acting up.
Maybe your attention's being pulled in a number of ways.
Maybe you're just staring into space and you feel totally fried.
That's okay.
It happens to all of us.
Whatever it is,
I want you to know you don't have to fix anything right now.
You just need three minutes and you can do this sitting right where you are.
If you're at work,
You can do it sitting at your desk and no one's going to notice.
We're not lighting incense.
We're not chanting.
We're not sitting on a yoga mat.
You don't even have to close your eyes if that feels weird.
You can if you want to.
So let's start.
First thing,
Stop.
Just stop.
Stop what's going on in here.
Put your hands in your lap or on the desk.
Whatever feels most comfortable for you.
And for a second,
I want you to just notice that you're sitting.
In a chair.
In a room.
That's not actively on fire.
You're safe right now.
So that's a good start.
Now I want you to take one slow breath in through your nose.
Not a big,
Huge,
Dramatic breath.
Just a nice,
Slow one in through your nose.
A little slower than normal.
And then let it out through your mouth.
You just did the thing.
Let's do that two more times.
In through the nose.
Through the mouth.
No one around you should have even noticed that.
Now I want you to drop your shoulders.
If you're like me throughout the day,
They get higher and higher and higher.
To your ears till it looks like you have no neck.
So just drop them right now,
Let them fall.
Maybe stretch your neck a little bit.
Take a second to really feel the difference.
Maybe notice your back against the chair,
Your feet on the floor.
You don't have to think anything profound right now.
Actually,
I don't want you to think anything profound right now.
We're just focusing on the here and the now.
Now one more slow breath in.
And out.
And that's it.
You're done.
Now,
All your problems probably aren't magically solved,
If only it were that easy.
That's not really the point.
The point is that you,
Yes you,
Just interrupted the stress loop for three minutes.
And believe me,
Even if you're not noticing consciously,
Your nervous system definitely did.
So if you start doing this once a day,
It starts to add up and you start to regulate your nervous system.
So please feel free to come back whenever you need reset.
I'll be here.
