Hello everyone,
How are you?
I am Violet Li,
Your Tai Chi examiner.
Today I am going to share with you what Tai Chi walk is.
There are several different ways to do that.
And first,
Let's talk about walking forward and that there are at least three different kinds and the three most used ones.
And the first one is so-called a young style Tai Chi.
Notice I have two blue lines on the form.
Uh they're about the hip width apart so when we walk we want to walk like on this uh railroad track and uh You'll see.
And we will be walking,
Zigging,
Zagging.
So first,
I am mirror image you.
So this is your right side,
This is your left side.
And then we first shift the body weight to the left,
Left,
Right heel out.
And the right hose.
Point straight on,
Okay?
And now shift weight to the back,
The left foot.
Turn the right toes out for 30 to 45 degree,
Okay?
Now slowly bring your left foot in.
You can lift your left foot and then left toes touch.
Or you can just drag your foot in,
Whichever way makes you feel comfortable.
Now let's do the left heel down and the step forward.
Tell us point forward.
And before we bring the right foot in,
You should point to the right.
Turn the left toes out.
And done.
And right foot in.
Right here up.
Notice the knee is softly bent.
Not a straight.
Okay,
Softly bend.
Okay.
And now Left foot in.
Left heel down.
Good.
And now.
Rai Fadil.
And rise for the hour.
And sometimes people ask me,
Say,
Well,
Why is the heel down?
Can I do the toes down?
Well,
You can try it with toes,
But it doesn't work that naturally,
Okay?
Because this is the easiest way,
And then you can touch the ground that way.
And notice I was walking,
Zigging,
Zagging,
And when you just practice Tai Chi walk,
You can do without the arms movement,
Like I just demonstrated,
Or if you want to add the so-called the The hip,
Arms,
You can do that,
Okay?
And the next one,
Let me demonstrate for you the Qian style Tai Chi form,
And actually a little bit easier.
And first,
We shift the weight.
To the left.
Lift your right foot and the right heel down.
In this time.
We want to turn the toes out.
Now bring your Left foot in.
Left foot out,
The heel touch first,
Right.
And because The toes already point up.
To the quantum.
So we don't need to shift the weight.
Before we step out.
And.
You notice both ways,
And we are walking,
Zigging,
Zagging.
And about the headwards path,
Okay?
Don't ever walk on the thin line.
And we are doing the walk and a few things we really need to be mindful.
First of all,
Breathe in and out through your nostrils.
Yes,
In through your nose,
Out through your nose.
And keep that.
Tip of your tongue gently touch the roof of your mouth that can facilitate the energy flow.
Okay,
And then if you are doing the Tai Chi walk strictly for the health purpose and especially for meditation,
And you can forget about what I just demonstrated for you and however you do the same thing and keep the feet about hip width apart and you shift weight to your left and the right heel down and now you can just keep the toes straight.
And now bring your left foot in.
Left foot out.
Again,
You can drag your foot in and step out.
The key to all these three different times is As we place the heel down first,
We want to be slowly,
Slowly lower the foot so we can feel in the the heel and then we can feel in the the ball area or the bubbling fountain and then lastly is the toe and when we walk this way we have to walk slow we have to be mindful when we are doing slowly and then That's kind of a meditation.
And there are many retreats in the nation,
And they adopt this type of Tai Chi walk as a part of a meditation.
So far,
I have talked about walking forward,
And as we're walking forward,
Always the heel Touch the full first.
But what if we walk sideways?
And there are a few different ways to walk.
Again,
Heel touch.
And slowly.
Lawyer.
Toast!
And now.
You're left with me.
Right heel out.
Slowly down.
With the toes.
And now,
Laugh for deeds.
And really mindful.
And pay attention.
To the bottom.
Of yours.
Feet.
Okay.
And this is a step across,
Step on,
I should say step on.
Together step together we can walk the other way or fancy way and then step to the side again with a heel and slowly down And now.
See the toes touch first and cross,
Okay?
And then here.
And toes.
Here.
In pulse.
So.
You can try this way as well and not just walking forward and then you can walk sideways to get a different variety.
Then how about walking backwards?
Backwards and So instead of heel touch.
It will be toes touch first because that will be easier.
And now.
At all.
Yay!
In out.
Yeah.
In out.
Of course,
In the walking backwards,
There are.
.
.
A few different type and it depends on the Tai Chi Chuan style and forms.
That you do and in maybe slightly different with different type of weight shifting.
However,
And the principles is the same.
The toes touch and slowly lower the heel,
Okay?
And again,
Breathe in and out through your nostrils and keep your head suspended.
You don't want to lean forward.
And actually when we keep our body upright and shoulders rounded and our center of gravity would be in between our feet and make us the most stable one.
And for some of you out there,
If you want to train yourself to have really strong exercise,
You know,
Just getting all the benefit of doing meditation,
Walk,
And then what you can do is and you can lower your body.
I guarantee you.
You can build up your leg muscle.
Very,
Very quickly.
Okay,
If you have any questions and post your questions underneath this video.
Okay,
Thank you.
