Welcome,
My name is Parul and today we'll be talking about breathing.
A function that we perform almost on autopilot.
But breathing is one of the body's most essential functions.
Because it supplies oxygen to every organ.
Muscle.
And sell.
Would you believe it if I told you that an average person breathes around 17,
000 to 24,
000 times a day?
Without even thinking about it.
I was blown away when I got to know about this fact.
When we inhale,
Air travels through the nose or mouth.
Into the lungs.
Tiny air sacs in the lung.
Lungs then pass oxygen into the bloodstream.
Where it is carried throughout the body.
To help create energy.
At the same time.
Carbon dioxide.
The waste gas produced by the body.
Is removed when we exhale.
Breathing also plays a role.
A major role in regulating the nervous system.
During stress.
The body shifts into fight or flight mode.
Heart rate increases,
Muscles tighten,
And breathing becomes faster and shallower to prepare the body for action.
While this response is useful during danger.
Staying in this state for too long.
Can increase fatigue.
Tension and stress in the body.
Slow and deep breathing.
Activates the body's relaxation response.
Often called the rest and digest state.
This can help lower blood pressure.
Heart rate.
Relax muscles.
Or digestion.
And reduce physical tension.
Deep breathing using the diaphragm.
Also helps the lungs.
Take in oxygen more efficiently compared to shallow chest breathing.
Studies have found.
That even a few minutes of slow breathing can help the body.
Feel calmer and more balanced.
Now that you know all of this.
Aren't you going to set the intention?
To breathe more deeply.
And become more mindful and intentional.
About this process.
Rather than taking this life-giving breath of ours.
For granted.
Let me know!
That's all from me for today.
Thank you.
