There are certain truths we don't discover because someone teaches them to us.
We discover them.
Because life keeps placing them.
Gently in front of us.
Waiting for us to finally notice.
Lately,
I've been reflecting on the stories we tell ourselves when we're standing at the edge of change.
They are rarely dramatic.
In fact,
They're quiet.
I need a little more time.
Maybe later.
I'm still figuring things out.
I'm just waiting until it feels right.
They sound reasonable.
Responsibly even.
But I've started wondering whether some of these stories are simply fear.
Wearing the voice of wisdom.
Not long ago.
I was writing in my journal.
But I caught myself repeating a familiar sentence.
I don't know.
It felt true as I wrote it.
But I couldn't shake the feeling.
That something wasn't quite honest about those words.
So I stayed with them.
I didn't try to answer the question.
I simply became curious.
And after a while.
Another sentence rose to the surface.
You do know.
You just don't know how.
It was such a small shift in language.
But it changed everything.
Because suddenly,
I could see that I wasn't searching for direction.
I was searching for certainty.
Those are not the same thing.
Direction asked Saas to listen.
Certainty asks us to control the future.
And life has never promised us certainty.
Only the next step.
Looking back.
.
.
I can see there have been many moments when I called myself confused.
But I wasn't confused.
I was standing in front of something that would change me.
And some part of me wanted desperately to stay the person I had always been.
It's strange how easily we mistake resistance for uncertainty.
We say we need more clarity.
More confidence.
More confirmation.
When sometimes what we really need.
Is the willingness to disappoint the fearful part of ourselves that wants everything.
To remain familiar.
I've also noticed something else.
Whenever I'm growing.
Life doesn't immediately become peaceful.
It often becomes louder.
Old fears return.
Forgotten insecurities introduce themselves again.
Parts of me I thought I'd outgrown,
Suddenly asked for attention.
For a long time,
I believed this meant I was moving backwards.
Now,
I wonder if it means the opposite.
Maybe what has been hidden.
Can only live.
Once it has been seen.
Maybe healing is in the absence of discomfort.
Maybe healing is the courage to stop looking away.
There are invitations that visit us.
Over and over again.
Not because we fail to answer them.
But because they belong to us.
A conversation we've postponed.
A creative idea that refuses to disappear.
A quieter way of living.
A boundary we know needs to be honoured.
A life we've secretly imagined while convincing ourselves it's unrealistic.
These invitations are remarkably patient.
They don't shout.
Their weight.
They return.
Not to pressure us.
But to remind us.
I sometimes think we spend more energy explaining why we can't begin.
Than it would take to simply begin.
We become attached to preparing.
Researching.
Questioning.
Imagining.
There is a strange comfort in staying there.
Because as long as something remains an idea,
It can never disappoint us.
An unlived dream can still be perfect.
But the moment we give it our hands,
Our voice.
Our imperfect effort.
It becomes vulnerable.
And soul,
Do we?
Perhaps that's why beginning feels so frightening.
Not because we're afraid of failing.
But because we care.
Because something precious is asking to be lived through us.
The truth is.
Every meaningful part of life.
Ask something of us.
To love someone is to risk being hurt.
To speak honestly is to risk being misunderstood.
To follow what feels deeply true is to leave behind versions of ourselves that once kept us safe.
Growth is rarely an addition.
More often,
It is a quiet letting go.
A loosening of the grip we've kept uncertainty,
Control,
And the stories we've outgrown.
Maybe that's why courage doesn't always feel powerful.
Sometimes courage feels incredibly ordinary.
It looks like making the difficult phone call.
" sitting with your grief instead of distracting yourself from it.
Resting when your worth has always been tied to productivity.
Creating something before you believe you're ready.
Telling someone.
This is who I really am.
The smallest acts of honesty often become the turning points of our lives.
So today,
I'd like to leave you with a different question.
Instead of asking yourself.
What am I missing?
Try asking,
What truth have I quietly known for a long time?
And then ask yourself something even gentler.
What is one small way I can honor that truth today?
Not tomorrow.
Not when you're fearless.
Not when every answer arrives.
Because perhaps the life you're longing for.
Doesn't begin with certainty.
Perhaps it begins the moment you stop calling yourself lost.
And start admitting.
Something much more compassionate.
I'm afraid.
Fear doesn't mean you wandered away from your path.
Sometimes it means you finally reach the place where your life is asking you to grow.
So let fear be present if it needs to be.
You don't have to argue with it.
You don't have to make it disappear.
Just don't let it introduce itself as confusion.
Call it by its true name.
And take the smallest step you can.
One honest step is enough.
Because every life that feels deeply lived begins the same way.
Not with complete confidence.
But with someone choosing to trust.
What they already know.
Even before they know exactly how.
Thank you for sharing this time and space with me.
Until next time.
May you be gentle with your fear.
Faithful to your inner knowing.
And brave enough to take the next step.
That only you can take.
