Following 15-minute meditation for chronic illness,
Fatigue and foggy thinking.
Will help you soften fatigue.
Accept limits without guilt.
And find clarity inside the fog.
Now settle into a comfortable position.
You might like to lie down.
Or be supported by cushions,
Let your body be exactly as it is.
No need to sit upright or hold yourself together,
Just arrive.
Now take a slow breath in.
And let it fall out naturally.
Another gentle breath in.
And release.
You don't need to force anything.
You don't need to do this right.
You're simply giving yourself a moment of ease.
Let your eyes soften and close.
Notice the weight of your body being held by the bed,
The chair or the floor,
Wherever you are.
Feel how you don't have to hold yourself up.
You can let go,
Even just a little.
If your fatigue feels heavy today,
Let it be heavy.
And if your mind feels foggy,
Let it be foggy.
Nothing needs to change right now.
Now I'd like you to bring your attention to your feet.
Noticing any sensation,
Warmth,
Coolness,
Tingling,
Or even nothing at all.
Move your awareness slowly up the legs to the hips.
To the belly.
And to the chest.
Imagine your breath moving like a soft breeze through the body,
Not energising,
Not fixing,
Just gently passing through.
Now take a slow breath in through the nose.
And sigh it out through the mouth.
Ugh.
Let's try that again.
In.
.
.
And out.
In,
And out.
Imagine your breath clearing a small space inside the fog.
Not pushing it away,
Just creating a pocket of calm.
As you inhale.
Imagine you're creating space.
As you exhale.
You're softening the edges.
Practice that for a few moments.
Inhale.
Creating space.
And exhale.
Softening the edges.
If your mind drifts or feels unfocused,
That's completely okay.
Your attention can wander and return.
Like waves on a quiet shore.
There's no failure here.
Just gentle noticing.
I'd like you to bring your awareness back to the sound of my voice.
And bring your awareness to the fatigue itself.
The heaviness,
The ache,
The exhaustion that sits deep in your bones.
Instead of fighting it,
Offer it kindness.
You might say silently,
I see how hard this is and I'm doing the best I can.
It's okay to rest.
Let these words settle into the body like warm sunlight.
You don't need to push.
You don't need to rise above anything.
You're allowed to be exactly as you are.
Let's try those words again.
I see how hard this is.
I'm doing the best I can.
It's okay to rest.
Now I'd like you to imagine a gentle rhythm.
Slow,
Steady,
Spacious.
This rhythm.
Is your pace.
Not the world's pace.
Not anyone else's expectations.
Your pace,
The rate with which you do things,
Is valid.
Your pace is wise.
And the way you pace yourself can protect you.
As you listen to this gentle rhythm.
Picture yourself moving through your day.
Choosing small steps.
Pausing when needed.
Honouring your limits without apology.
I'd like you to think to yourself.
I honor my limits.
Without apology.
I honour my limits.
Without apology.
Let your breath match this rhythm.
Inhale,
Slowly exhale.
And exhale.
I honour my limits.
Without apology.
I honour my limits.
Without apology.
Even if your mind still feels foggy,
Notice there's a small pocket of calm inside you now,
A clearer centre.
A softer place to land.
Place a hand on your chest or belly,
If that feels comforting,
And say quietly to yourself,
I am allowed to rest.
I am allowed to move slowly.
I am allowed to be gentle with myself.
I am allowed to rest.
I am allowed to move slowly.
I am allowed to be gentle with myself.
Take one last slow breath in.
And release.
And allow your breathing to return to normal.
For the next five minutes or so.
I'd like you to just enjoy being relaxed and calm.
And quiet.
When you're ready,
Let your eyes open slowly.
Carry the softness with you into whatever comes next.
