This is the heart breath meditation.
You can do this with your eyes open or closed,
In preparation for deep sleep or to give yourself a moment of calm and restoration in the day.
Make yourself comfortable and let's begin.
Breathing in deeply and exhaling completely.
Breathing in and exhaling,
This time breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Breathing in,
Letting your chest expand and as you breathe out,
Anchoring that expansion deep within the body.
Keeping your focus on your heart centre as you breathe,
Imagining you're breathing in an atmosphere of pure love and as you exhale,
Anchoring that love throughout the cells of your body.
Inhaling letting the chest expand,
Receiving that love,
Exhaling letting go,
Resting deep within the body,
Keeping your attention on the heart centre,
Receiving as you inhale and dropping into deep rest as you exhale,
Knowing you are safe and held in this moment.
Enjoy letting your body fill up on this atmosphere of warmth and love through the heart and then as you exhale,
Anchoring that support into the body.
Letting your heart be the hub of your breath,
Following the waves in and the waves out.
Letting you breathe now for a while without my guidance,
Trusting your own body,
Your own breathing cycle to guide you,
Letting your body receive this restful expansive experience.
If you're doing this practice with your eyes closed,
You may want to continue to rest or if you choose to,
You could open them now.
Continuing to breathe like this with your attention on the heart,
Taking in the space around you,
Seeing what it's like to breathe like this with eyes open,
Breathing from your heart centre and when you're ready,
Letting this heart centred breathing go,
Returning to your usual rhythm and let yourself feel gratitude for taking this time to take care of yourself and giving yourself this moment of deep relaxation and rest.
