Welcome.
Before your day fills up with tasks and to-do lists,
Let's take 5 minutes just for you.
Find a comfortable position.
Sitting up in bed is perfectly fine.
Let your eyes close or soften your gaze downward.
Take one deep breath in.
And slowly release.
And notice that you woke up today.
That in itself is not guaranteed and not something to rush past.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Supporting your body.
Feel your breath moving on its own without you having to manage it.
You don't need to fix anything right now.
You don't need to become anyone right now.
Simply be here,
Present with yourself.
And bring your attention to your body.
This body that carried you through yesterday and is already carrying you into today.
Quietly thank your lungs for breathing without being asked.
Thank your heart for beating through the night.
Thank your eyes,
Who are always open to see the world in front of you.
Thank your body as it prepares for a new day.
And now bring to mind one person that you are grateful for.
Someone who has made your life a little easier.
A little warmer.
A little less alone.
Picture their face.
And if you can.
Silently say their name with a smile upon your face.
And now,
Open your awareness to the day ahead of you.
Not your whole to-do list,
Just one thing.
One small thing today that you get to do,
Not that you have to do.
A meal.
A walk,
A conversation.
A quiet moment with your morning coffee or tea.
Let yourself feel the this day.
Unopened and unknown.
Is such a beautiful gift.
And take one more breath in.
Slowly releasing your breath out.
Whatever today holds.
You're allowed to meet it from this place.
A little steadier.
A little softer.
A little more grateful than when you were woke.
And when you're ready.
Gently lift your eyes.
Take a look around with gratitude for this space.
And carry this feeling into your day.
Feeling yourself with love and peace.
And until tomorrow,
Be thankful for each and every moment.
I thank you for practicing gratitude with me today.
