Begin in a nice,
Comfortable sitting position of your choice.
Hands are resting on the knees or thighs,
With the palms facing up.
Tip of the index finger and your thumb touching each other.
Once you are physically comfortable,
Take a deep breath in and while exhaling gently close your eyes.
Become aware of your body from within,
Ensuring that the spine is upright.
The head and neck are aligned to the spine.
Shoulders are pushed slightly back and relaxed.
Move your awareness through each part of the body,
Just to ensure there is no tightness or tension in any body part.
Your whole body is comfortable and at ease.
If you find there is some tension in any body part,
Just gently adjust your posture and try to release that tension,
So that you are physically at ease.
For the duration of this practice,
Try to minimize all physical movements.
Say to yourself mentally,
I am going to practice Chakra Shuddhi.
As you are moving the awareness through the body,
Feel the body posture becoming steady and still.
The body is motionless and still.
Complete awareness of the steadiness and stillness of the whole body.
From head to toe,
Whole body is completely still and relaxed.
Now,
Imagine that your whole body has become a tree.
Feel your body is growing up from the floor like a tree.
Your legs are the roots of the tree.
Your torso is the trunk of the tree.
And your arms and head are the branches.
Whole body has become a tree.
A tree which is rooted to the floor and will not move.
Focusing upon the steadiness of the tree.
No movement whatsoever.
Gently let go of the mental image of the tree.
Continue to keep the stillness of the tree in the body.
Now,
Become aware of your body internally.
Now,
Mentally take a resolve that you will not move your body throughout this practice.
Remaining steady and motionless like a statue throughout the practice.
Now,
Focus your attention exclusively on the opening of the nostrils.
Become aware of the natural,
Effortless flow of breath moving in and out through your nostrils.
Don't try to control the breath.
Simply be a silent witness to its flow.
Now,
Let go of the awareness of the breath.
Bring your total awareness to the very base of your body.
Locate the root center,
The Muladhara Chakra.
If you are male,
Focus your attention on the perineum,
The small area between the genitals and the anus.
If you are female,
Focus on the cervix,
The opening of the womb.
This is the root switch for your entire energy system.
Visualize a deep red lotus with four petals at this exact point.
See the color clearly,
A vibrant,
Earthy red.
As you focus here,
Try to discover a subtle,
Rhythmic pulse beat at this point.
Like the ticking of a clock or the beat of a heart.
Now,
Feel as if you're breathing in and out directly through this red lotus.
As you inhale,
Feel the breath being drawn into the center of the lotus.
As you exhale,
Feel the breath move out from that same point.
Feel the breath becoming finer and finer with every round,
Until it feels like a thin needle of light piercing the center of the chakra.
Whole focus on the breath and the lotus,
Breath and the chakra.
If at any point of time your mind begins to wander,
Use a physical contraction of the perineum or cervix to anchor your attention.
As your mind becomes more one-pointed and still,
You may replace this physical effort with a mental contraction or just touching of the point with your attention.
Now,
Let go of the breath awareness.
Let go of the visualization of the lotus.
But keep your awareness deep within the root chakra.
Now,
Let go of your awareness of the chakra.
Dissolve all images into the inner space of the head.
Relax all effort and become one with the inner space.
If any thought arise,
Let it rise,
Not interfering,
Just witnessing it,
Allowing the thought to dissolve into the space,
The vast,
Clear void.
For these few moments,
Experience yourself as this space and just be,
Allowing the energy that we have awakened to harmonize within.
Gradually,
Become aware of your natural,
Spontaneous breath.
Feel the slow,
Steady rhythm of the air moving in and out of the body.
Acknowledge the space where you are seated right now.
The time of the day.
Feel the physical body seated on the floor.
Become aware of the weight of your body and the pressure against the floor.
Listen to any sound in the environment around you.
Being aware of the sounds which are near and the sounds which are coming from the far.
Now take a deep breath in.
We will chant the mantra OM three times together to conclude the practice.
Gently move your fingers,
Move your toes and turn your head slowly from side to side.
Bring your palms together and rub them vigorously.
Generate some warmth.
Place your warm palms over the closed eyes,
Feeling the warmth soaking into the optic nerves.
Slowly open your eyes and gently release your posture.
The practice of Chakra Shuddhi is complete.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Namaste.
