Welcome to this morning ritual meditation.
My name is Christy,
And I'll guide you through this meditation that you can do every morning if you like,
As you drink your daily coffee or tea.
And the invitation for this meditation is to use our coffee as our daily reminder to appreciate everything that is already going right.
And so to begin,
I'll invite you to find yourself seated into your favorite seat,
A chair or a cushion,
Sitting in any way that the body can express comfort.
Maybe your feet find themselves planted on the ground,
Or you curl cross-legged up against a cushion or wall.
And as you sit here,
Just taking a moment to orient into this new day.
You might orient just by noticing,
Letting the eyes gently gaze around the room,
Taking in the space around you.
You might start to notice sounds within the room,
Sounds that are far away,
Or sounds that are nearby.
You might start to notice any sensations that are alive in the body,
Connecting perhaps to the feeling of gravity,
Groundedness,
As your low body is connected to the earth,
The cushion.
You might invite a softening into your abdomen,
Into your heart space.
There might be a gentle smile that spreads across your face.
And as you sit here,
I'll invite you to gather the mug of coffee or tea within your hands.
You can wrap the palms around the mug,
And just let the hands receive the warmth radiating from your cup.
You might notice how the body responds.
There might be a sense of openness,
Comfort,
Softening.
You might start to appreciate the shape of the mug,
Maybe the color or the texture.
You might gaze down and take in the color of your tea or coffee,
Or breathing in the aroma.
And as you do all of these,
Just notice also the body's response as you're taking in all the different elements.
If you like,
You can close your eyes,
Or you can just gently,
Softly gaze down into the liquid of your cup.
I'll invite you to start to imagine the lands where these plants grew,
Delighting in wonderment that there was enough rain that year.
There was the perfect number of days of sunshine.
Everything was just right for those plants to grow.
You might open into gratitude that there were people who were available,
Healthy,
Who were able to harvest the plants,
Who are able to roast the beans and dry the tea leaves.
Feeling some appreciation for the fact that there were all these interactions that had to take place to get those plants,
Maybe across oceans,
Across continents.
That there were things as small as shipping labels created,
Addresses written correctly.
And starting to let yourself take that in as not insignificant,
But as almost a miracle.
A miracle that these plants were able to travel such a distance,
That there were people to send them,
People available to receive them.
That these plants were able to make it to your home.
Even the fact that the coffee machine was even invented.
Letting that soak in,
That that is a gift given from years and years ago,
That you get to receive this morning.
This ancient invention,
These old ways of harvesting,
All of that gets blended together on this very special morning.
This very special morning where if any of these interactions didn't,
They didn't work,
If they didn't happen,
This moment wouldn't have been possible.
You might let your mind wander into all the other things that had to go right for this to happen.
Old ways of knowing,
New ways of knowing coming together perfectly,
In just the right time,
In a good way,
So that you could be sitting here this beautiful,
Perfect morning to enjoy your coffee,
Looking down in gratitude.
You might start to deepen the breath as you start to take in all the beautiful energy that was poured into this cup,
To remind you that everything is already going right.
Have a beautiful,
Wonderful,
Miraculous day.
Until the next time.
