If your mind's been a bit overactive lately,
Lots of thinking,
Lots of what ifs,
Lots of trying to stay on top of everything,
Then these next 10 minutes are for you.
We're going to use some simple tools to help ease your overactive mind and to give you a bit more space.
When life speeds up,
The mind tends to do the same.
It tries to run ahead,
To figure everything out,
To solve everything before it even happens.
So for now,
We're just going to pause.
Let your body settle into whatever position you're in.
Sitting,
Lying down,
Doesn't matter.
And bring your attention to your breath.
Just notice the breath as it is.
Let the breath do what the breath wants to do.
It can feel nice to let your exhales be a little bit longer.
Allowing the body to soften just a little bit more as you breathe out.
Just stay with your breathing for a few moments more.
And as your breath settles into its own rhythm,
Bring some awareness to your body.
Notice any sensations you can feel.
Maybe there's comfort,
Maybe there's discomfort,
Maybe there's tightness or warmth in the chest,
The stomach,
The shoulders.
Whatever you find,
Just notice it.
Nothing to fix,
Nothing to push away.
Just let everything be just the way it is.
And as you notice your body and your breath,
Your mind may wander off.
It probably will,
It's just your brain doing brain things.
When you notice your mind has wandered,
Just gently bring it back.
Returning to the body and the breath.
Letting everything be just the way it is.
And what about your mind?
Are you having thoughts?
Just be aware if you're thinking or not thinking.
Thoughts may be moving quickly,
Jumping from one thing to the next,
And that's okay.
See if you can take one small step back and just observe the fact that you're thinking.
Almost like sitting on the sidelines,
Watching your thoughts pass on by.
See if you can allow them to be there,
Whatever they are,
Without giving them too much attention.
And for these few minutes,
You're allowed to stop,
To stop trying to solve everything,
To sitting with what is,
Breathing and allowing.
You don't have to fight it,
You don't have to fight it.
You don't have to figure it out.
It's just energy,
Just movement,
All just passing through your wonderful,
Miraculous being.
And now bring your attention to your forehead,
Just above and between the eyebrows.
Simply rest your attention there with no strain and breathe.
Let this be your anchor,
Steady,
Simple,
A place to return to as you breathe.
And from this place,
We'll begin to introduce a few simple positive thoughts.
Maybe you'll gently say to yourself,
I can handle this.
One step at a time.
Whatever's going on in my life,
I do not need to solve everything right now.
I'm gonna let things unfold in the present moment.
Everything is happening just the way it should.
Let those thoughts or other positive thoughts you're having move through your mind.
While your attention also stays gently anchored at the forehead.
If the mind pulls away,
Welcome it back.
Maybe you'll even allow yourself a gentle smile.
Notice your breath and any shift,
However small,
In how you feel.
And what might you take with you from this meditation into the rest of your day.
And gently,
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me for this 10-minute meditation.
I'm sending you peace,
I'm sending you love,
And I'm sending you happiness for the rest of your day.
