Hello,
And a very warm welcome to you.
My name's Catherine Rowe,
And I'm so incredibly glad that you found your way to my page today.
I really love a perspective shared by the author Rachel Cook in her book from 2025.
She wrote that a psychotherapist is not an expert at being human.
I am the fellow struggling human being who's prepared to put on their Wellington boots and wade into the mud with my clients.
I really,
Truly try to live by those words in both my work and my personal life.
Life can throw some massive challenges our way,
Can't it?
I don't believe in sitting above anyone as an unshakable expert.
We all face the heavy stuff sometimes.
Things like grief,
Anxiety,
Deep trauma,
Massive dilemmas.
We're just trying to figure out what it all means.
If you're navigating those messy spaces right now.
Please know you don't have to walk that path alone.
I'm here already putting on my wellies and walking alongside you anyway.
I've done my own personal work and continue to do that.
I think it's absolutely essential that therapists are always building on their own self-awareness.
Digging into the hard stuff doesn't have to feel rigid,
Cold or overly clinical.
In fact,
I think that can really get in the way.
It can actually be a beautiful path to feeling more renewed,
More yourself,
More at ease.
As Rachel Cook also beautifully put it,
Helping people pull together both the joy and the sorrow of a real,
Authentic life is what therapy is all about.
I like to think of our work together.
As our own little book club.
It's going to be a shared space where we can pull wisdom from incredible books and ideas to make sense of what we're going through.
I've been deeply shaped by the fascinating psychology and reflections from Irvin Yalom,
And the down-to-earth reassuring guides from the School of Life.
I also love bringing some amazing current and and just timeless poetry into my practice,
Like Rumi,
His poem,
The Guesthouse.
It really captures the philosophy that I'm trying to learn,
Which is to welcome and accept all of our emotions.
Even the incredibly uncomfortable ones.
Now,
Because we're diving into the deep end together,
I want you to know you're in safe,
Highly experienced hands.
On the professional side,
I am a fully qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist and UKCP is our highest level register in the UK for psychotherapists.
I'm a trainer and a clinical supervisor.
I've got a master's degree in social work and I'm a certified specialist in transactional analysis,
Which is a brilliant framework that helps us map out our internal psychology and our I'll be describing books and diagrams and things for you to go and have a bit more of a dig into if they appeal.
TA can help us,
Transactional analysis,
Can help us understand why we do what we do and help us break free from old limiting life scripts.
But alongside my training,
I really do try to bring a lot of fun,
Vitality and warmth to my work.
I feel so energised by my work and so moved.
Yeah,
It's an incredibly fortunate position to be in,
To be working alongside people at depth.
I do provide dedicated LGBTQ plus affirmative therapy spaces,
And I offer relationship therapy to partners,
Helping partners within all relationship types to have those difficult conversations,
Resolve conflicts,
And build genuine lasting connections.
I also take a completely open,
Light-hearted,
And non-judgmental approach to intimacy.
I've had extra training and frequently support individuals and couples working through really difficult themes around sex,
Relationships,
Identity,
And trust,
Communication,
And commitment.
My goal is always to guide us away from emotional stuckness,
Stagnation,
And shame.
And move us towards self-awareness,
Resilience and a real sense of vitality.
I love using creativity and to be collaborative.
Whether you're here looking for personal healing,
Increased self-awareness,
Professional supervision or training.
I work with clients both online and in person here in the UK and online internationally.
I'm so honoured to share my work on Insight Timer.
This community has been a massive inspiration to me,
Especially the wonderful everyday resilience shared by Stephen Webb in his meditations,
And Robert Waldinger's incredible insights into relationships,
Suffering,
Zen Buddhism,
And what makes a fulfilling life.
Thank you so much for listening.
