Come into a seated position,
Letting the spine be tall without being tense.
Let your hands rest somewhere easy.
Take a deep breath in.
And let it go.
One more time.
Take a deep breath in and this time shrug the shoulders all the way up to your ears.
And as you breathe out,
Let the shoulders drop.
Let yourself arrive into this moment.
Leaving behind the day so far.
And whatever you have on your schedule for later.
Feel your body in whatever seat you have taken.
Notice the parts of you that are connected to the surface underneath.
Begin to follow the flow of your breath.
In.
Out.
In.
Now begin to check in with your dialogue with yourself.
Observe the language.
The words you are using.
Be honest with yourself.
Notice if the voice inside your head is measuring.
The day so far or even this moment.
Judging your performance in any way.
And if that is the case,
Let that be okay for now.
Releasing the urge to argue with yourself.
Just notice it's there.
That voice can feel relentless.
Like you are forever chasing.
Yet often,
There's a belief deep inside us that through this never-ending driving forwards,
It's protecting you.
From failure.
From disappointing someone.
From falling behind.
See if you can thank it for trying.
Even if its methods are exhausting.
And then see if you can let it fade away.
For the next few breaths,
Consider this.
What would it mean if my worth wasn't tied to what I produce today?
Let the question sit,
Even if it feels unfamiliar.
Now bring to mind one thing,
However small,
That took real effort to complete today.
It does not matter how big or important it was.
Just let yourself acknowledge the achievement.
Notice if you want to immediately follow it with listing what's still undone.
What you feel the urge to rush back to.
Can you pause and return instead to the appreciation in this moment of restful silence?
We often think of it as a reward.
But this moment of rest.
Appreciation of yourself.
Is part of how the work is sustained.
You are allowed to pause and reset before everything is done.
Let yourself return to that inner critical voice.
And see if it can speak with more compassion.
Offer yourself a little bit of kindness with these words,
Repeated in your head or out loud.
I am enough today.
Exactly as I am.
I am enough today.
Exactly as I am.
One last time.
I am enough today.
Exactly as I am.
You Take one more deep and full breath in.
And a slow,
Long breath out.
Begin to notice the room around you again,
Your presence in this space.
And whenever you are ready to return to your day.
Open your eyes.
Remember,
Self-compassion cannot just live alongside high achievement.
But it makes it sustainable.
