Ah,
Look at you,
Keeping the light on in your mind because you think if you stop thinking the world will stop turning.
The world is doing fine without your input right now.
You're not solving problems by staring at the ceiling.
You're just making yourself a cranky,
Sleep-deprived version of the person who could actually solve them tomorrow.
In the Tibetan tradition,
They don't force the mind to be quiet.
That's like trying to calm a wave by hitting it.
You just step back.
You are the ocean.
Not the way.
Visualise a big blank screen floating in the air.
When a thought comes.
Did I pay that bill?
Or what if I failed?
Don't carry it in your body.
Shove it onto the screen.
It's not you anymore.
It's just a movie playing in the room.
You can watch it if you want.
But you don't have to engage with the plot.
Notice your body.
Is your jaw clenched?
Shoulders up to your ear.
Why?
The thresh is on the screen.
Not in your muscle fibres.
Let the tension drip off you like water.
Your muscles don't need to be ready for action when you're in bed.
Give them permission to go limp.
Your restlessness.
It's just stuck energy.
Your mind thinks it's protecting you by staying alone.
But it's actually just.
.
.
Burning your fuel tank for no reason.
Imagine floating.
Not like you're trying to go anywhere.
But just.
.
.
Gravity becoming optional.
If you don't have to hold your body together.
You can just let the bed hold you.
It's very good at its job.
Let it do the heavy lifting.
You're worried about having energy for tomorrow.
Great.
The most efficient way to get that energy isn't by worrying about it.
But by napping right now.
Think of this rest as fuel injection.
By the time you wake up.
Your tank will be full.
And you'll have the clarity to actually handle the stuff you're currently losing sleep over.
By the time you wake up.
Your tank will be full.
And you'll have the clarity to actually handle the stuff you're currently losing sleep over.
You're done.
The screen is blanking out.
The thoughts are fading.
You don't need to do anything else.
You're already drifting.
You're already resting.
Just.
Stop holding on.
It's okay to let go.
You're perfectly fine.
You're safe and sleep is already here.
Go on then.
Sleep.
