Let's begin by allowing the body to settle into its own natural way.
Feeling the earth underneath you,
Holding you completely.
You don't need to force a breath or fix a posture,
Just letting the breath breathe itself,
Noticing how each inhalation and exhalation arrives on its own effortlessly.
And as you settle here,
Notice if there's any subtle tightening around the edges of the mind.
Any quiet rush to figure things out or to find solid ground.
In our practice,
We often notice a familiar habit.
This sudden,
Subtle panic when things feel unclear.
When an answer doesn't arrive right away.
Just pause here for a moment.
Notice what happens in the body.
When an answer is missing.
Does the chest feel tight?
Does the mind spin faster,
Trying to manufacture certainty out of thin air?
Instead of pushing that feeling away or fighting it.
Can you turn toward it with a gentle,
Curious interest?
What is this not knowing?
Is it truly a threat?
Or is it simply a passing weather pattern in the mind?
Notice how our relationship to the present shifts with our moods.
When we are grasping for answers,
Experience feels heavy,
Tight,
Compressed.
When we resist what comes next.
Everything feels restricted.
But if we rest back and look closely at the nature of change.
Aneka when we see that nothing stays fixed.
Every thought arises hangs in the space of awareness for a moment and dissolves.
Every feeling of uncertainty is like a cloud.
Drifting across the vast open sky.
The sky doesn't struggle against the clouds,
The sky simply allows them.
Notice the space between thoughts,
That quiet,
Still pause.
Between one breath ending and the next beginning.
In Tibetan practice,
This is known as the gap.
It's an unforced stillness.
A moment where no choice needs to be made and no problem needs to be solved.
What is it like to rest right there?
In the middle of not knowing.
To realise that uncertainty is not a flaw in your practice.
It is the very container where insight awakens.
Bring a gentle,
Compassionate awareness to wherever you feel tension.
Your shoulders,
Your jaw.
The holding in your heart.
With each exhale,
Imagine softening that grip.
Not because you're forcing yourself to relax,
But because you're finally letting go of a heavy stone you didn't even realise you were carrying.
Letting the question remain open.
Letting the future remain unwritten.
Resting fully in this present breath.
As this meditation draws towards completion,
Know that this spaciousness doesn't only belong here on the cushion.
Later.
Today,
When a conversation feels ambiguous,
When a situation feels heavy,
Or when the urge to rush for an answer arises,
Can you remember this pause?
Can you let the breath open?
Can you trust the clarity that rises naturally from stillness rather than force?
Taking one deep nourishing breath in and letting it softly go.
Whenever you are ready,
Gently opening your eyes,
Bringing this quiet spaciousness back out into the world.
You are already complete,
Just as you are.
