When You Feel Hijacked By Your Nervous System
When your nervous system shifts quickly, it can feel as though you have been hijacked. This brief, playful practice uses the metaphors of a ladder, a fast elevator, and a kite catching the wind to make an automatic physiological response easier to recognize. The meditation uses two voices, with one voice offering each phrase and another repeating it. You can simply receive the words, repeat them silently, or say them aloud. Rather than blaming yourself or rushing to change what is happening, you will practice noticing the response and bringing kind voice to the experience.
