Right now,
Some part of your body may still be carrying what your mind has been trying to leave behind.
Because pain does not disappear simply.
Because time passed.
The nervous system remembers.
The body remembers.
The heart remembers.
Science now shows that chronic resentment suppressed anger.
And emotional stress can affect the immune system.
Increase inflammation.
Release cortisol.
And keep the body trapped in survival mode.
And long before neuroscience discovered this,
Scripture already warned us.
A heart at peace gives life to the body.
Proverbs chapter 14 verse 30 Not because forgiveness is weakness.
But because bitterness becomes a prison,
The body must live inside.
And today you are not here to deny what hurt you.
You are here to stop carrying it along.
Because forgiveness does not always mean reconciliation Sometimes forgiveness means I refuse to let this pain continue living inside my body.
So gently,
Take a slow breath in.
And arrive here.
Inhale slowly through the nose.
Exhale gently.
Again,
Inhale peace.
Exhale tension.
Allow the shoulders to soften Relax your chest.
Unclench your stomach.
Let the body feel that it no longer has to prepare for battle.
Because many people have lived in emotional defense.
For so long,
The attention became normal.
My body adapts to stress chemistry The nervous system learns hypervigilance.
The muscles tighten automatically.
And eventually peace can begin to feel unfamiliar.
But your body was not designed for permanent survival mode.
God designed the body to heal,
To restore,
To return to balance.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
A reading from Psalm 23 verses 2 through 3.
Now imagine A warm white light.
Gently surrounding you.
Soft.
Safe.
Be a soul.
The presence of God.
Meeting you exactly where you are not demanding perfection.
Not demanding performance.
Only invite and surrender.
Feel this light touch the top of your head.
Relaxing the mind.
Quieting overthinking.
Now moving gently into your face.
Vidya.
The throat.
Releasing the words you never got to say.
Now this light moves into the heart centers.
And here simply notice.
What emotions?
Still live inside you Now judgment.
Now for a scene.
Only awareness.
Now quietly ask yourself.
.
.
What pain am I still carrying?
Who am I still emotionally tied to through resentment?
Anger or disappointment.
And understand this carefully,
When emotional wounds stay unresolved,
The brain often keeps replaying them over and over.
The nervous system reacts as though the danger is still happening now.
The stress hormones continue.
Inflammation continues.
The body keeps preparing for impact.
And all the time.
Emotional pain can become physical exhaustion.
This is why forgiveness matters,
Not only spiritually,
But biologically.
Because forgiveness tells the body you no longer have to stay at war.
And that doesn't mean the memory disappears.
It means the pain no longer controls your inner world.
Now bring into awareness someone who hurt you.
Observe what rises.
And remember forgiveness is not permission.
Forgiveness is release.
Some people hurt others because they themselves were deeply disconnected.
From love,
From truth,
From God.
And while their actions may have wounded you.
You don't need to carry their darkness forever.
Quietly repeat within.
I release this burden.
I release the attachments to this pain.
I release the need to replay this suffering endlessly.
I choose peace.
And if your heart resists,
That is ok.
Healing cannot be forced.
Even willingness begins changing the nervous system.
Be kind and compassionate to one another,
Forgiving each other,
Just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4.
32 Now bring your awareness to yourself.
Because sometimes the hardest person to forgive is the person staring back at us in the mirror.
Maybe you blame yourself for staying too long.
For trusting their own people.
What choices you made.
While wounded,
Confused.
Or emotionally exhausted.
But the version of you who made those choices.
Was trying to survive.
With the knowledge and awareness they had then.
And growth means you can now see differently.
This is not failure.
That is transformation.
Place your hand over your heart.
And gently stay within.
God.
Help me release the guilt I keep carrying.
Help me stop punishing myself for being human.
Help me remember that healing is a journey.
And help me see myself through your eyes.
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
A reading from Romans chapter 8 verse 1 Now return to the breath.
Notice the body.
Notice the space that begins opening when resentment loosens its grip.
Forgiveness does not erase the past.
But it can stop the past from continuing to live inside your body.
And maybe healing begins here.
Not enforcing yourself to forget.
But in finally allowing yourself to become free.
As you continue your day,
May your heart feel lighter.
May your nervous system remember peace.
May your body remember safety.
And may God guide you gently back into wholeness.
You are healing.
Your hand.
And you no longer have to carry everything alone.
