Practicing loving kindness, or Metta in the Pali language, cultivates unconditional goodwill, kindness, and compassion towards ourselves and others. By practicing in this way, we develop more inner peace, reduce stress, and connect with others through compassionate well-wishes. We can send Metta to anyone we love, those we don't know, those we care less about, and those we have difficulties with to expand feelings of warmth and well-being toward others. By repeating the well-wishes to ourselves, we are practicing self-love and acceptance, and it helps to cultivate a positive outlook.
