Good morning and welcome to your work day.
My name is Emily Dux and I'm going to lead you into a quick visualization and intention-setting practice to get your day headed in the right direction.
This is intended to be done first thing when you arrive to work or perhaps just before you leave for work.
So let's settle in.
Take a seat,
Whether on a chair,
On the ground.
Comfort is queen,
As my teacher David G says.
So take a moment to get yourself comfortable.
Is there anything you could do to just be 1% more comfortable?
Go ahead and do that now.
Let's take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and sigh it out through your mouth.
One more time,
Breathe in and gently let that go,
Letting your eyelids get heavy with a soft gaze or let your eyelids gently close,
Whatever feels comfortable in your current surroundings.
Loosen the grip you have on your breath,
Connecting to the stillness and silence that rests within,
Letting the air come in and out however feels comfortable.
Bring to mind a situation or an experience over the last few weeks that made you really feel productive,
Like you're firing on all cylinders.
Maybe you had a goal and you achieved it.
You were part of a well organized meeting.
You made big headway on a project.
Maybe you nailed a presentation that you had been prepping for.
How'd that feel?
Who were you with?
Where were you?
Were you in the office,
At home,
On site with a client?
Rebuild that experience for yourself.
What did you hear?
What did you see?
What could you smell?
What could you feel?
What could you taste?
Maybe you were chewing gum or had a soda,
Maybe a sparkling water.
Maybe you're with colleagues or by yourself.
Maybe your dog was with you.
What did that picture look like?
Imagine as if you are back in that room,
In that space,
In that feeling you had of success and productivity.
As we're in that memory,
What about that situation made you feel so successful or productive?
Let's take a minute here to just sit with this picture and let the ideas bubble up.
Maybe it was the hard work you put in,
Collaboration with your colleagues.
Perhaps it was the joy you felt or maybe perseverance.
You had to overcome an obstacle.
Sit with those ideas.
Is there a word or maybe a phrase that's coming to mind?
Did you sit with this?
I'd love for us to spend just a few moments repeating that word or phrase silently.
If there wasn't something specific that came for you,
You're always welcome to focus on your breath.
If at any time you find yourself drifting off into thoughts or the word or phrase starts to get a little jumbled,
Once you realize it,
Just gently bring yourself back to that word or phrase.
I'll watch the time and when you hear my voice,
Just sit quietly.
Let's begin to gently bring our awareness back to the present moment.
Start by noticing the feeling of your body against the ground or the chair,
The support beneath you.
Slowly take a deep breath in and as you breathe out,
Feel yourself returning to the space around you.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes softly,
Taking in the room around you without any rush.
Give yourself a moment to settle back into the space,
Carrying with you any sense of peace,
Clarity,
Or direction that you found for your day.
Let's take one final deep breath together,
Inhaling that word and as you exhale,
Let go of any tension in your body.
Thank you for joining me in this moment of stillness as you prepare for your day ahead.
May the sense of calm and presence carry forward into the rest of your day.
Namaste.
