Allow your eyelids to grow heavy and wise,

Fully closing like velvet curtains.

Begin where the light of the day has been most present.

Give your eyes a constant compassionate awareness to your eyes.

They have absorbed a constant stream of light,

Colour,

And motion.

Give them permission to simply fall away from the task of seeing.

Allow them to deeply nestle back into their sockets.

Rest fully within the gentle protective bowl of your skull.

Relax the tiny devoted muscles surrounding your eyes.

Letting the natural darkness beneath your closed lids become a cooling restorative balm.

Breathe the quality of deep,

Soft rest directly behind your eyes,

And with the kindest voice,

Whisper to them,

You may surrender now.

You are perfectly safe to stop holding on.

Allow that awareness to flow downward,

Finding the places of effort in your neck and shoulders.

These areas have been the unwavering pillars,

Carrying the weight of your head and focus.

Breathe in a sense of spaciousness.

On the exhale,

Imagine your shoulders melting,

Sliding away from your ears,

Fully releasing all effort and bracing.

Let the ground receive the effort now.

It is enough.
