Drift to Sleep,
The alphabet A to Z or Zed sleep game by me,
Nikki.
There are only three steps to this game.
Are you ready to play?
Head to bed and go ahead and get in.
Make sure that your environment is comfortable,
Distraction-free.
Pull the covers down.
Get cozy.
Find your sleep position and get the wiggles out.
Go ahead now and close your eyes.
Step two,
Pick a category.
Some of my favorite categories are animals,
Fruits,
Cities that I've traveled to,
People's names that I love,
And one time I even did swear words.
So much fun,
Highly recommend.
Step three,
Once you have your category,
Start at the letter A.
The goal is to try to make it to the letter Z or Zed.
Let's play a practice round.
So for the category,
Let's use animals.
Now,
In your mind,
Pick an animal that starts with the letter A.
For me,
I think of an antelope.
Then you move to the letter B.
I think of a bear and the letter C,
A cat,
And you just keep going,
D,
E,
F.
Try to make it to the letter Z in that category before sleep finds you.
It's just that easy.
Here's some things to keep in mind.
If when you're playing the game,
Especially in the beginning,
You find that you get distracted by thoughts and it pulls you out of the game,
Once you notice,
Gently unhook and come back to the game.
Try to remember the letter that you left off on.
This is a distraction game for your mind,
Gives you something to focus on other than thoughts or troubles that might be brewing while you're trying to go to sleep.
If you can,
Think of this like your meditation practice.
If you find that you've become distracted,
Simply come back to the game.
It's that awareness piece that's key.
Another thing to think about is if you get stumped on a letter and you just can't find something for that,
You can skip it.
You can come back to it later if you'd like,
Or just ignore and keep going.
Also,
As you play and you pick a category,
If it's not working for you and you find yourself getting unhooked and distracted,
Feel free to pick another category.
There's no rules.
No one's listening.
Remember to have fun with this and to wrap this up,

After using it for years,
Is that I'm able to quiet my mind,
De-stress,
And go to sleep faster,
And I look forward to waking up the next day after I've played this game,
