Welcome to the morning Taoist meditation practice.
Please ensure you are comfortably seated either on a chair or on the floor.
Keep your spine straight and your feet flat on the floor in a chair.
You may place your hands on your knees or in your lap.
Begin to breathe in and out the nose and you may close your eyes if desired or keep a soft gaze not focusing on any point.
Feel how your body reacts to each inhalation and each respiration.
Notice the expansion and retraction of the tissues with each breath.
And as you keep breathing,
Turn your awareness to the respiration entering your lungs and begin to feel how the air vitalizes the blood.
Feel this air,
This oxygen,
This qi revitalizing with each inhalation,
Feeding the tissues,
Feeding the organs,
Feeding and nourishing the brain.
And now with your exhalations,
Begin to release all internal tension from your body out with your breath.
When you inhale,
Bring in more vital energy,
Nourishment,
And when you exhale,
Remove more tension from your system,
Bringing a complete state of relaxation.
Continuing this cycle of inhaling vitality and qi and exhaling tension.
As you continue to breathe,
Notice your relaxation deepen with each exhalation and with each inhalation.
Notice your body energize and revitalize,
Bringing yourself to a lighter,
Brighter state.
With each respiration,
The vitality and the qi drives deeper into your tissues,
Replacing the tension that you exhale out.
And each exhale creates more room,
More space for you to increase your vitality and decrease any stress in the body.
Remembering to breathe at your own pace,
So long as each inhale revitalizes and each exhale reduces tension.
Know that you may repeat this for several breaths or several minutes,
But continue breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
Inhaling more vitalizing qi and exhaling unnecessary tension.
Should any emotion or memory arise,
Note it,
Acknowledge it,
And return to your inhalation of qi and exhalation of tension.
You may continue breathing in this manner for longer if you wish.
If you would like to conclude,
Turn your awareness towards how your physical tissues are affected with each inhalation and each exhalation.
Feeling the complete expansion during inhalation and the complete retraction during exhalation.
And as you do so,
Begin to wiggle and feel the seat underneath you.
Feel the floor under your feet and wiggle your fingers and toes.
You may gently open your eyes when you're ready.
And you have concluded this meditation.
