I used to procrastinate so much,
And now when I look back,
I understand why.
And it was because I would look at tasks as one whole.
And it would make me feel so overwhelmed because it felt so big.
And then that overwhelmed feeling would send me into a freeze state where the next thing I knew,
I spent hours on the couch not doing anything.
And then,
Of course,
After I did that,
It led me to feeling guilty and all of the other emotions that come with not completing what I needed to do.
Then one day,
Someone said something to me that completely changed my life.
This person said,
Inch by inch,
Life is a cinch.
Yard by yard,
Life is hard.
And that phrase has gotten me through so much since then.
It's so true.
If we break things down into little bite-sized pieces,
They feel so much less overwhelming and doable and we don't get stuck in a nervous system response that prevents us from fulfilling our tasks.
I no longer think about step 2,
4,
5,
Or 10.
I just focus on step number one.
And only until step number one is completed is when I move on to step number two.
This makes everything doable,
And not only that,
As you complete these small tasks that are much more achievable.
Then it gives you this confidence and you start building more and more self-trust knowing that you're able to face the things that you need to with confidence.
I wanted to share this because it really has helped me so much in my life,
And I'm hoping that it helps someone else.
So always remember,
Inch by inch,
Life is a cinch.
Yard by yard,
Life is hard.
I really started realizing some of the best gifts in life are simple.
And I wanted to say a special thank you to Maurizio,
Who shared this wisdom with me.
I hope you hear this.
