Still here.
Body Prayer for Survival.
Begin seated or lying down.
Let the body settle without arranging it perfectly.
Allow gravity to hold you.
Take a slow breath in through the nose and a gentle exhale through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale.
Exhale.
Feel the simple mechanics of being alive.
Breath entering.
Breath leaving.
Place one hand over your heart,
One over your lower belly,
If that feels right.
Notice the warmth beneath your palms.
Notice movement.
Your body is working.
Bring awareness to a time when life felt fragile.
Illness,
Medical treatment.
Emotional collapse.
A moment when you were not sure how things would unfold.
Try not to tell the whole story.
Just acknowledge the threshold.
Then return to sensation.
Your hand on your heart.
Your hand on your belly.
Your breath entering.
Your breath leaving.
Feel the support beneath you.
Feel your spine.
Feel your ribs quietly say to yourself,
Still here?
Let those words land in the body.
Still here.
In the Jewish tradition,
After surviving danger or serious illness,
We recite a blessing called Birkat HaGomel.
It's a prayer of humility and gratitude.
Not because we control the outcome.
Not because we earned survival.
But because we recognize the gift of continuation.
If you would like,
Whisper the Hebrew with me.
Baruch Atah Adonai.
Eloheinu melech ha'olam.
HaGomer L'chachayim Tovot.
Shige Malani Kol Tov.
One more time.
Baruch Atah Adonai.
Eloheinu Bela Ha'olam.
Ha'gomer l'chayavim.
To vote.
Shige Malani Kol Tov.
Notice what happens inside you after these words.
No need to manufacture emotion.
Just feel.
Now in English.
Blessed are you who bestows goodness and has bestowed goodness upon me.
Feel your inhale arriving without effort.
Feel your exhale releasing without strain.
You did not command your heart to beat today.
You did not manually inflate your lungs.
And still they move.
Let gratitude be physical.
Soften your jaw.
Relax your shoulders.
Let your belly receive breath.
Whisper inside.
Life stayed with me.
War,
Life returned to me.
More simply.
Thank you.
Take 3 steady breaths.
Inhale,
I am alive.
Exhale,
I receive this moment.
Inhale.
I did not earn breath.
Exhale,
I honor it.
Inhale I remain.
Exhale,
I begin again.
Rest in quiet awareness.
No striving.
No fixing.
Just the sacred fact of being here.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Still here.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
May you be blessed with many more days.
Of gratitude and goodness.
