This is a guided meditation for you to relax and visualize the scene that I'm setting out for you.
The affirmation that goes with this meditation is I can learn from my mistakes.
Settle into your position wherever you may be.
Relax,
Get comfortable,
Take a deep breath in and slowly let that breath go.
Let your muscles go heavy,
Let the earth support your body.
This is your time to relax,
Your time just for you.
You've got nowhere else to be and nothing else to do.
Today in your imagination you've decided you'd like to go for a relaxing walk at one of your favorite spots.
There is a beautiful trail which winds through leafy trees and bushes atop a cliff overlooking the ocean.
It is a windy chilly day today and you are feeling the brisk weather on your face,
In your hair.
The wind whips your hair around your head and into your face.
You breathe deeply and smell the salt water as you inhale through your nose.
The path on this cliff top is made of dirt and sand and it winds through bushland,
Sometimes thicker where you cannot glimpse the ocean,
Sometimes thinner where you can stand on a point overlooking the sea from every direction.
You come to one of these lookout points now.
Your view sweeps to the left,
Up the shore and to the right,
Viewing the shore broadly in both directions.
Straight ahead is the sea,
As far as you can see.
Can you see any creatures in the water?
You turn around and lost in your thoughts,
You wander down a path walking further and further until you realize that you don't recognize where you are.
The path which you know well and walk often is gone and this new territory makes you feel unsettled.
You continue walking slowly and notice that the trees are getting bigger,
The bush thicker and you decide to turn around.
Upon retracing your footsteps you realized you'd been walking for quite a while before you realized that you were indeed quite lost.
Navigating one path then another,
Finding yourself in a dead end,
Turning around,
Walking faster,
Your heart beating faster,
A little worried until finally you find your way back to the main path which you recognize like an old friend.
Your heart slows to a normal beat and you feel grateful for believing in yourself enough to keep trying the paths until you found familiar ground.
You got lost but you found your way.
You learned one path wasn't the right one and so you tried another and another until you found the right one.
We all make mistakes.
Some are big and some are small and we will continue making mistakes for the rest of our lives.
That's okay.
The important thing is that we learn from our mistakes.
On this day you learned some new paths and you learned to pay attention to where you were going so that you could find your way back.
With this confidence in yourself for believing in yourself you continue walking on the well-worn path toward home,
Glimpsing the sea whenever you can,
The grey waves crashing to shore,
Washing up and spraying the rocks at the base of the cliff,
Rain begins to spit on your face,
Little bush rats scurry to find a safe burrow.
You stop to pick a flower,
Feel it in your hands and smell it.
You're in no rush and you're enjoying the beauty of nature around you.
Take a deep breath in and take in the piece of this scene right now in your imagination.
Look around you knowing you can return to it whenever you need a calm moment in nature.
