Welcome.
This is a somatic meditation.
Of Yoga Nidra.
For sleep and deep rest for nervous system repair.
Thank you for entering into this space of deep restoration.
You're creating a sanctuary.
Where the nervous system can relax and exhale.
For the next few minutes,
There's nothing to fix and nowhere to go.
Your only task is to allow the body.
To remember what peace feels like.
So allow this to be your invitation to rest.
Not the kind of rest that just quiets the mind.
But the kind that reaches all the way through your body and down into your cells.
Take a slow,
Steady breath.
And through your nose.
And exhale through your mouth with a gentle sigh.
Again.
Inhale,
Calm.
And exhale,
Release.
Each breath opens the door a little wider.
To the deep rest waiting for you.
Now find a comfortable position.
Ideally lying down.
May be supported by soft pillows or a blanket if you wish.
Feel the surface beneath you.
As it holds you completely.
And you surrender your weight to it.
Let your eyes close.
The muscles around them feeling soft.
Unclench your jaw.
Let your shoulders drop.
Heavy and loose.
And bring your awareness to your breath.
Noticing how it moves without your effort.
You don't need to guide it.
You only need to witness.
With every exhale,
The body melts a little more into the ground.
And with every inhale.
A thread of ease enters into your nervous system.
Telling you you are safe to rest.
And let go.
Now we begin a gentle body scan.
Not to control the body.
But to listen to it.
Start at the crown of your head.
Imagine a warm golden light pooling there.
Spreading slowly across the scalp.
And it quiets the tiny muscles beneath the skin.
Let that light drift down to your forehead.
Smooth the space between the eyebrows.
Unclench the eyes from the inside.
And feel your temples soften.
The light flows into your jaw.
Allow it to unlock.
As your tongue rests loosely.
Heavy in your mouth.
Now the wave moves down.
Through the neck.
Into the shoulders.
You might even roll them slightly.
And allow them to fall open.
All the weight you've been carrying slides off your back.
Down your arms.
Elbows.
Wrists.
Palms and fingers.
A current of ease runs outward.
Leaving your hands warm and still.
Bring awareness to your chest.
Feel it rise and fall.
The heart is still working quietly.
Faithfully.
I'm beating in perfect time.
Thank it for all it has carried.
Now move the light into your belly.
Place a hand there if it feels comforting.
Feel the soft movement beneath your palms.
As the abdomen expands and deflates.
Like a tide coming home.
Allow your breath to fill this space completely.
Now through your hips and legs.
The areas that store so much effort.
Feel the warmth glide down your thighs,
Knees.
Calves,
Ankles,
All the way to the soles of your feet.
Letting that muscle chain.
Relax completely.
From crown to toes,
The entire body is now bathed in light.
Nothing to hold.
Nothing to tighten.
Just the slow rhythm of life breathing itself.
Beneath this physical stillness.
Lives the subtle hum of your nervous system.
The electrical pulses.
Almost a song that keep you alive.
Tonight.
Let that song begin to slow and soften.
And imagine the whole network of nerves has rivers of light running through you.
Some are rushing.
Or tangled.
At Summer Calm.
And with each breath.
Let the currents find their natural rhythm again.
The inhale nourishes the system.
On the exhale,
Clear static.
And overstimulation.
Feel into the back of your skull.
The place where the brain meets the spine.
Here begins the vagus nerve.
The body's pathway of calm.
Visualize it glowing golden.
Carrying a gentle message through your heart,
Lungs,
Stomach,
And gut.
Telling you you are safe.
And it's okay to rest now.
That message ripples through your entire body.
Recalibrating every cell toward peace.
Your heart rate slows.
Your digestion.
Resumes its quiet flow.
And your breath becomes soft and circular.
This is how your body remembers balance.
And you are witnessing healing.
From the inside.
Yoga Nidra.
Means yogic sleep.
It's an art of conscious rest.
It's not about falling asleep.
Even if you drift.
It's about letting go of effort.
While remaining gently aware.
Thoughts will pass by like clouds across an open sky.
You don't have to chase or stop them.
Just simply watch them float by.
If emotions arise.
Where there's sadness.
Gratitude,
Or release.
Just allow them.
They are the body's language of letting go.
And it's not your task to fix.
Just to feel.
The nervous system heals through permission.
Not resistance.
Breathe into whatever appears.
Then exhale it back into the earth.
As you teach your body.
That it no longer needs to hold everything alone.
Now imagine you're lying on the shore of a calm lake at night.
The air is cool.
The sky is velvet black.
The stars are scattered like gentle sparks.
With each breath,
You feel yourself sink into the earth just a little bit more.
You are supported from below.
Surrounded by warmth.
And help in stillness.
The breath slows even further.
Inhale long through the nose.
And exhale with a long,
Soft sigh.
If you could see your body from above.
You'd see light expanding in all directions.
Soft and alive.
This glow is your parasympathetic state.
Your healing mode.
And here,
The brainwaves slow.
Tissues repair.
And the heart communicates safety to every cell.
You are resting inside your own medicine.
Imagine now a stream of white gold light descending from above you.
It's gentle,
Luminous,
And loving.
And touches the crown of your head.
And flows down through your whole body.
This light carries intelligent calm.
As it passes through the brain.
It washes away worry.
Through the neck and shoulders.
It unravels tightness through the chest and soothes the heart.
It moves down the spine like honey.
Thick,
Warm,
And radiant.
And every nerve fiber it touches becomes more coherent.
When it reaches the abdomen.
Your organs sigh in relief.
The gut relaxes.
And the breath deepens.
Let the light continue to flow.
All the way through your hips and legs to the soles of your feet.
Connecting you to the earth.
Now your entire body glows like moonlight beneath water.
With each inhale.
The light strengthens.
And with each exhale,
It releases remnants of stress,
Tension,
Fear,
And old patterns.
And they dissolve like smoke in the wind.
Your body whispers its gratitude.
Thank you for resting and listening to me.
Remain here for several breaths.
Floating along in the quiet.
This is the nervous system's natural rhythm.
Expanding.
And anchoring in peace.
As you're ready.
Begin to sense the boundaries of your body again.
Feel the weight of your hands.
The cool air on your skin.
And hear the faint sounds in the room.
If there is no rush.
Or if sleep calls.
You may drift there effortlessly.
Carried by the waves of calm.
If you wish to awaken gently.
Start with a deeper breath.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Circle your wrists and ankles.
And stretch your arms overhead.
Opening the chest to the air.
Then bring one hand to your heart.
And one to your belly.
Peel the warmth.
The rhythm beneath your palms.
And whisper inwardly.
I am safe and whole,
And my body knows how to heal.
Allow that affirmation to echo through your nervous system.
In this state of somatic sleep nidra.
You've reminded your body of something ancient.
That healing doesn't require effort,
Only permission.
Your nervous system has listened.
And you allowed it to slow,
Repair and reorganize.
Carry this sense of ease with you.
Into the rest of your night.
And let every breath that follows be a continuation of this quiet restoration.
Let's take one final nourishing inhale together.
And a slow,
Complete exhale.
Thank you for joining me today.
You are held.
Whole,
And free to rest deeply.
Namaste.
