
Open Your Creativity

This meditation is a guided imagery to open your creative portal. We all have an innate ability to imagine, innovate and create. Our creativity can manifest in many forms – cooking, making art, gardening, playing with our children, creating new ideas for work and home life, innovating a new product, sewing, woodwork, or candle making. The list is endless. The more open your creative portal is, the more ideas and nourishment will come.

This is Valerie Tate with an Open Your Creativity Meditation.
This time has brought up so many fears and life questions for everyone.
We're asking will our world improve?
Will it disintegrate?
Will I survive?
Just being with all the questions.
In some way we could call it an existential crisis for the world,
For ourselves.
A crisis of meaninglessness.
What's the point of life now?
What will we become?
We have hopes of coming together and we're really facing our fears collectively of the unknown.
Psychologist and author Irving Yalem writes extensively on existential psychology.
He says that the antidote to existential meaninglessness is creativity.
We must allow our unique creative expression to emerge and manifest,
To touch our deep feeling of meaninglessness and the unknown.
The definition of creativity is the ability to transcend traditional ideas,
Rules,
Patterns,
Relationships or the like and to create meaningful new ideas,
Forms,
Methods,
Interpretations,
Originality,
Progressiveness and imagination.
The following will be a guided imagery meditation to open your creative portal.
Our innate ability to imagine,
Innovate and create.
Creativity can manifest in many forms as I'm sure everyone is experimenting with already.
Working,
Making art,
Gardening,
Playing with our children,
Creating new ideas for work and home life,
Innovating a new product,
Sewing,
Woodwork,
Candle making,
The list is endless.
The more open our creative portal,
The more ideas and nourishment will come.
Begin by sitting comfortably in a chair or lay down on a couch,
A bed.
Just find a place you can relax and get cozy.
Look around you and notice familiar objects in the room.
You can let that feeling of familiarity bring comfort,
Support and grounding.
You notice the solid floor,
The carpet,
The furniture.
Look up at the ceiling and the lights and take a deep,
Slow,
Relaxing breath.
Good.
Allow your eyes to gently close and bring awareness to your breath and take another long,
Slow,
Deep and relaxing breath.
Your body and breathing relaxes with ease.
You feel gravity connecting you with the couch or the chair or the bed and drop into a deep and relaxed state.
You will enter a deeper and deeper state of relaxation and comfort as we go along.
As you breathe in,
Recite the words inside,
I am here now.
Breathe in,
I am here now.
And exhale,
Recite these words inside,
I let go now.
I let go now.
Breathing in,
I am here now.
And letting go,
I let go now.
Continue your breathing.
I am here now.
I let go now.
Breathing in,
I am here now.
And exhaling,
I let go now.
Good.
You're doing great.
Dropping into your meditation space,
Dropping into your body,
Feel the earth below you and feel your connection to the earth.
Feel the clean and clear space around you in all directions.
And if it doesn't feel clear,
Start moving all of your people and things and projects,
Move them out of your space.
Just imagine pushing them out of your space for now.
Saying bye bye,
We'll get to you later.
Clean and clear your space and create a bubble all around you,
Two feet in all directions.
This is your space.
And put a seal around that bubble in all directions.
Can imagine a color.
Just allow yourself to fully inhabit this space.
Feel it,
Own it.
This is time for you.
Now imagine your energy body doing a big stretch and yawning.
Stretch in all directions.
That feels so good.
So today we will explore,
Unwind,
Open and unleash your creative energy and inspiration.
At the end of this meditation,
You will open your eyes anew.
You will see your immediate surroundings enhanced with your senses.
Sights,
Smells,
Tastes and colors and felt sensations will increase in warmth and positivity.
Throughout this meditation,
You may have images,
Body sensations or receive messages.
Just allow your information however it comes to you.
Yes,
Allow.
You will feel inspired to create at will.
You will see every moment as a possibility to express your innate abilities.
Exactly as you are,
Exactly as they emerge.
We are born out of pure creative potential.
We have potent curiosity.
We are here to create.
In a moment you will go on a journey.
You will journey back to a moment in time from your childhood filled with creative curiosity,
Openness and allowing.
Everyone has had at least one of those moments.
Imagine your bubble again,
Two feet around you in all directions.
And you will travel back in time now when I count back for you from five to one.
On the count of one,
You will arrive at a place in your childhood when you were open,
Curious,
Creative and expressed.
One moment in time,
Just let it arise.
Two,
Five,
Going back now.
You are traveling back in time.
Four,
Letting go.
Three,
Expanding your consciousness wide.
Two and one,
Be there now.
Good.
Allow yourself to experience this memory and let it unfold like a movie.
Just unfold.
And do you notice how old are you?
Is anyone there with you?
What are you creating?
How does it feel in your body?
Notice the temperature of the room,
Just allow all your senses to be fully present now.
Feel yourself creating.
Be there 100%.
Now we will anchor this feeling by pressing your pointer finger and thumbs together.
Good.
Let's anchor this to be a body memory of the feeling of creating,
You creating.
As you press your fingers together,
You remember this feeling.
Anytime when you are in waking life,
You can press your fingers together like this and remember this inspired feeling.
Good.
Now let your fingers go.
In a moment,
We will leave this memory and go to another place in time.
We will travel to a time in history where you experienced creative wounding.
Everyone has experienced this.
A place in time where you felt or were told you were not good enough.
Not good enough drawing,
Acting,
Not good enough.
When you stopped yourself from creating,
You stopped expressing naturally.
Let yourself go there.
We will count back from five to one and we will arrive at this place to heal and let go.
Five,
Going back now.
Four,
Letting go and expanding your consciousness.
Three,
Relaxing and letting go.
Two and one.
Be there now.
What do you notice first?
Where are you and what is happening?
Just let it unfold like a movie.
How old are you?
Notice your emotions in the scene and let yourself feel it 100%.
Feel that wounding you experienced.
What message did you carry forward into your future about creating?
Just notice what comes up.
Now let that message float out in front of you,
Two feet in front of you.
See it and separate it from yourself.
As you look at this message,
Allow yourself to see all the ways that this has impacted your creativity in life from this time on.
Just watch a series of scenes for how this has affected you until now.
Now ask yourself what would you like to transform this message into?
Just let that new positive message emerge.
Give yourself this gift now.
Good.
Now come into present day and ask yourself,
What kind of creativity calls to me now?
What art modality,
Innovative idea or material speak to me now?
Do I want to create something physical that I can hold in my hands?
What would that be?
Or do I want to create something innovative,
Written,
Song,
Poem,
A new product idea?
Creativity is infinite.
Let it emerge.
Good.
In a moment,
We will complete this meditation,
Taking all of your new ideas,
Inspiration,
And creative expression with you.
Creativity is your birthright.
And when you open your eyes,
Grab a pen,
A pencil,
A marker,
And some paper or your computer and write down a stream of consciousness what came to you during this meditation.
And now slowly you begin to feel your body again,
Wiggling your toes and moving your hands.
Begin to notice your breathing,
The smells in the room and the sounds.
And bring a slight smile to your face,
Thanking yourself for taking this time to explore.
And now gently opening your eyes and noticing items in the room.
You are all the way back now,
Refreshed and renewed in your creative spirit.
And take a big stretch with your body.
A deep breath.
Ready.
To create and record what you experienced.
