Welcome to Divine Union Meditation and the practice of Anjali Mudra.
One of my favorite mudras because this mudra is all about the heart.
It's known as the gesture of the heart and for me I like to think of it as coming to the heart of the matter.
It also helps us to have reverence for the things most important in our lives.
So let's begin.
Find a comfortable seat.
Lift tall through the crown of the head.
Softly close the eyes and settle down into your base.
Begin to notice your breathing.
Bringing your attention and awareness to the breath allows for you to be present in this moment.
There's nothing we need to do to the breath.
Let it be easy and smooth.
Begin to bring your hands into Anjali Mudra,
Placing the hands together at the heart gently with a little space between each fingers pointing up towards the sky and invite your senses to move inward.
Begin to sense the feelings and sensations awakened by this mudra.
Let's start to deepen our experience by exploring the complementary polarities existing within you.
Bring your awareness to the right side of your body.
The right side represents your vitality,
Your achieving and your doing.
The right side is our active polarity,
Engaging in the world in a variety of ways.
Now bring your awareness to the right hand.
The right hand is a symbol of wisdom,
Understanding and clarity.
Bring your awareness to the left side of your body.
The left side of your body represents ease,
Surrender and release.
The left side is our receptive polarity.
Bring your awareness to the left hand.
The left hand is a symbol of compassion,
Intuition and connection to all life.
Now bring your awareness to the space where your palms meet and experience the integration of doing and being,
Achieving and surrender,
Activity and receptivity,
Logic and intuition,
Wisdom and compassion,
Knowing and loving.
As we experience an integration of all that we are,
A felt sense of our loving,
Kind and divine nature emerges.
Take several breaths here to experience complete oneness with your divine nature.
Affirming this unity at all levels of your being,
Repeat the following phrase three times to yourself,
Aloud or silently.
When I rest in divine unity,
All is well.
Slowly release the hand mudra and take several breaths,
Resting here in union with your divine essence.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes returning to the space around you.
May you take with you this integrated experience and allow for the qualities of the heart to emerge in all that you do.
Namaste.
