During this meditation, kids will use the power of their imagination to feel love towards one of their family members. The meditation begins with calm breathing and proceeds with a visualization of a love and kindness ball of light that children can send to a family member. The purpose of this meditation is for kids to feel that love resides within and is always accessible.

Hello Inner Explorers and welcome to this short meditation.

Today we will use meditation and imagination as a way to feel love and connection to one of our family members.

So we're going to jump right in right now and we're going to get comfortable and that can mean for you to to sit down either on the floor or on a chair.

Whatever is most comfortable to you,

If you're sitting down it helps to have your back straight.

But you can also lay down if you want and if that's possible for you at the moment.

So just spend some time getting really comfortable and trying to relax your body.

And when it feels safe to do so you can close your eyes and start bringing your attention inwards.

And all that means is is taking your attention away from the outside world and bringing all of your attention into how you feel inside.

You can notice how your body feels for example.

How do your hands feel in this moment?

Do they feel warm or cold or somewhere in the middle?

How do your feet feel in this moment?

Do they feel warm or cold?

How about your legs?

How about your face?

How about your face?

Maybe something in your body right now feels a little bit tight and you can relax it even if it's just a little bit.

And now that we're feeling more relaxed we're going to think of one family member that we love a lot.

I'm sure you have many family members that you love a lot.

For this meditation we're just going to choose one of them right now and you can later do it again with another family member.

And so you're going to imagine now that you are sitting right in front of this person.

And you're both really relaxed in this moment and breathing and you're going to look into this person's eyes.

And you're going to look into this person's eyes and feel what it feels like to look this person that you love so much in their eyes.

And now that you're looking into their eyes you can also offer them a smile.

And when you smile something amazing happens.

They smile back at you.

And suddenly you're feeling really happy that you are with this person in this moment and that you get to smile at each other and be with each other.

And while you're sitting right in front of this very very important person you're going to start to think about some things that you love about them.

So what do you love about this person that is in front of you right now in your mind's eye?

Are they a kind person?

Do they do nice things with you?

Do they play with you?

Do they help you when you need help?

What is one more thing that you love about them?

And now we're going to take one deep breath in and out.

And now we're going to take one deep breath in and out.

And gather all of these loving thoughts about this person and make it into a ball in front of you.

Just take all of the loving thoughts about them and put them together into a ball.

And you will see that this beautiful ball in front of you is a ball of love.

And you will see that this beautiful ball in front of you is slowly looking more and more like a ball of very bright lights.

You are holding it in your hands and the light is just so so bright and it makes you feel so warm and so happy and you just know there is so much love in there.

And now you're going to extend your hands and give this ball of love away to your loved family member that is right in front of you.

And when they receive this beautiful ball of love from you,

They will smile even bigger than before and their eyes will sparkle because you have just made them so so happy.

And you might notice inside your own body that you yourself also feel very very happy and also feel like you're smiling and full of light.

Because when you give love away,

You also give love to yourself.

You also give love to yourself.

So now that we've had this beautiful journey of love and connection,

We're going to take three deep breaths.

In,

Out,

In,

Out,

In,

Out.

And slowly but surely you can start taking your attention from your inner world.

A little bit into the outer world,

You can jiggle your toes and your fingers a little bit.

And when you're ready,

You can smile again and open your eyes.
