Coming to a comfortable sitting position on a chair or sitting cross legged on the floor.
We're going to focus on extending the breath.
So start by just noticing the breath as it gently enters the nose and leaves through the nose.
Feeling the belly expand on the in breath and contract on the out breath.
We're going to count to five as we breathe in and five as we breathe out.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five in.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five out.
Continuing to breathe in for a count of five and out for a count of five.
Now extend the breath.
We're going to count in a count of seven.
Breathing in two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven.
Breathing out two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven.
And continuing to breathe in for seven and out for seven.
Next we'll increase the count to ten.
We're going to count in ten.
Breathing in two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
Ten.
Out two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
Ten.
And continuing with this practice,
Extending the breath by an extra two counts.
Every few breaths.
Continue breathing for a further three minutes until the bell signals the end of the meditation.
