The story of Skylar and her adventures, transports your child into an imaginary world with imagery and sounds to encourage relaxation and creativity before bed. Also a lovely road trip story if ever you need it... Please enjoy!

Today's story is about a young girl called Skylar who ventures far away,

Meets a white squirrel and travels on a boat made of chocolate.

It's the story of Coconut Mountain.

So close your eyes and relax your body.

Take a few deep breaths and make sure you feel cozy and warm.

Are you ready?

There once was a girl called Skylar who whilst playing on the grass outside of her house spied a fluffy white tail through the tall grass.

It began to move away from her towards the green forest through the fence at the bottom of the garden.

The girl decided she would follow the tail into the forest.

The white tail flashed quickly along the ground and through the soft autumn leaves.

So Skylar picked up her feet as quick as she could to catch up.

Suddenly the tail stopped moving.

The sun was shining through a hole in the clouds right onto the forest floor.

The girl could finally make out whom the tail belonged to.

It was a little white squirrel.

Before she could approach the squirrel it dashed up an incredibly tall tree.

Now this wasn't any regular tree.

It was a bright blue tree.

It glowed bright blue.

Skylar looked around and saw all of the trees around her glowing different colours.

Pink,

Yellow,

Blue and white.

Skylar decided to climb the tree to find the squirrel and so she began to climb each branch.

She climbed higher and higher and even higher until she reached the very top where she could see the tops of all the glowing trees below her as far as her eyes could see.

In the distance was a beautiful white mountain.

She heard a voice behind her say,

That's not just any old mountain,

That's Coconut Mountain.

Skylar turned to see who had spoken.

It was the little white squirrel perched high upon a beautiful pink tree top.

But how do I get there?

It's so far away.

So far away.

Skylar asked.

The squirrel smiled.

You fly of course.

Skylar shook her head.

But how can I fly?

I don't have wings.

The squirrel pointed at her back.

Then what are they?

Said the squirrel.

Skylar looked over her shoulder.

Down her back were a pair of two beautiful white wings growing from her back.

The feathers opened widely and flapped powerfully.

Skylar was so surprised she almost lost her grip on the top of the tree.

But before she knew it she was lifting off the branch and her wings were actually carrying her into the sky.

She was flying.

Skylar looked down below her just in time to see the squirrel slip away down the tree.

She flapped her wings and soared through the blue sky heading straight towards Coconut Mountain,

Looping high and flying fast down towards the treetops.

Eventually she landed softly on a beautiful mountainside covered in white.

Skylar looked down below her just in time to see the squirrel slip away down the tree.

She landed softly on a beautiful mountainside covered in snow.

But it wasn't cold like snow.

It was soft and smelt sweet.

If it's not snow then what is it?

Asked Skylar out loud.

It's coconut.

You're standing on Coconut Mountain.

And sure enough she bent down to grab a handful of snow and it tasted just like sweet coconut.

But who had spoken?

She turned around to see a lovely little snowman no bigger than her waist.

And I'm no ordinary snowman.

I'm made of coconut.

He said.

Skylar shook his coconut hand.

Pleased to meet you.

I've never seen a coconut snowman before.

The coconut snowman smiled and I've never met a real girl before.

Tell me,

Have you ever seen a lake made of chocolate?

Skylar looked at the snowman and shook her head.

At the bottom of this mountain is a lake made of real chocolate said the snowman.

But how do we get down?

Asked Skylar.

It's such a long way down.

The snowman found a large piece of what looked like bark.

But looking closely it was actually a giant toboggan made entirely of chocolate.

Skylar sat on the toboggan looking all the way down the mountain.

She could barely see the bottom.

She nudged herself to get going and all of a sudden she was off gliding down on beautiful coconut snow.

Up and down she went over hills and through trees until she slowed to a stop at the very bottom.

Skylar caught her breath for a minute.

Right before her was a lake made entirely of velvety chocolate.

The sun was reflecting off its surface and she could feel the gentle breeze upon her face.

The chocolate lake,

She whispered.

Skylar walked towards the lake's edge,

Bent down and scooped a handful of chocolate from the lake.

It was warm and delicious.

Skylar wondered what it would be like to swim in a chocolate lake.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and without a second thought she dove in.

Skylar did backstroke through the syrupy chocolate and splashed about until she was covered in chocolate.

She was having so much fun she barely noticed the huge ship heading straight towards her.

The large ship was glowing gold with a mast as high as the tallest fir tree in her garden.

Skylar stood waist deep in chocolate with her mouth wide open in awe.

As far as she could tell there was nobody steering the ship.

It stopped directly next to her and as if by magic a set of golden stairs pulled out in front of her eyes.

Step by step Skylar climbed the golden stairs until she was aboard the magnificent ship.

With a slight gust of wind the ship began to sail away from the shore until she could barely make out the bottom of Coconut Mountain.

Skylar sat down to enjoy the view but she was still covered in sticky syrupy chocolate.

She noticed at the front of the ship a box almost like a golden telephone box.

She read the words written at the very top of the door.

Enter the box and turn a key and you'll be clean in one two three.

Well Skylar had had enough of feeling like a chocolate eclair so she thought it would be the best way to clean herself up.

She turned the golden door handle and walked inside.

It was light and bright.

Along one wall were hundreds of keys of different shapes and sizes but which one should she turn?

Skylar thought long and hard and settled on a very long key engraved with flowers.

She turned the key slowly waiting to see what would happen.

One two three.

Suddenly a shower of sprinkles came out of the ceiling all over her bouncing off her arms her legs and between her toes.

This was not how she expected to be cleaned.

Skylar looked like a chocolate sundae.

The sprinkles stopped falling and Skylar opened the door to the deck of the ship feeling a little bit silly covered in chocolate and sprinkles.

Just as Skylar was about to give up she looked down at her arms and legs only to see she was completely clean.

They must have been magic sprinkles said Skylar aloud and indeed they were.

What a nice feeling to be clean again.

Skylar looked out over the horizon and noticed the ship was heading towards what looked like the top of the waterfall and they were heading straight for it.

Just as Skylar was mustering the courage to jump off the ship the ship went straight over the waterfall.

Skylar hang on to the mast tightly and closed her eyes but all she could hear was the sound of the wind.

She peeped open one eye.

The ship was straight.

It wasn't falling down but it wasn't on the water anymore either.

Skylar looked over the edge and realized very quickly they were flying.

The chocolate lake was so far down below them and she could see the mighty waterfall too.

The ship flew into the blue sky past birds past mountaintops and past unicorns.

Skylar blinked twice.

She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Unicorns?

Yes there really were beautiful unicorns flying past her.

Some were white with rainbow hair others had pearl white horns and silver wings.

As they flew they left a trail of colors behind them like a beautiful pathway.

They flew gently over and through the clouds.

It was just like a dream.

So it was so relaxing Skylar almost fell asleep until she heard a voice say excuse me are you in need of a ride back down.

Skylar turned to see a penguin floating on a biscuit using it like a raft in the sky with a long piece of candy as an oar.

A penguin on a biscuit?

What next?

Thought Skylar.

Yes please a ride would be wonderful.

Skylar hopped onto the back of the penguin's biscuit and they gently floated downwards towards a field.

In this field was a giant tree right in the middle.

Its branches covered the yellow grass below and the leaves rustled in the breeze.

Are you hungry?

You must be after such a big adventure said the penguin.

Skylar nodded and the penguin led her to the trunk of the tree in which was a lovely oak wood door with a golden handle.

If we knock three times and say the magic words the door will open.

So Skylar knocked three times and the penguin said the words billy bolly boo.

The door swung open to reveal a wondrous land full of soft colours rolling green hills and unusual creatures.

She spied a small quaint village in the distance.

The penguin led the way through the door and they began to walk along a red path all the way to the village.

Once they'd reached the village they stopped in front of a shop.

The shop had a large sign above it that said dreamers alley.

Let's go in and have something to eat said the penguin.

So in he waddled with Skylar close behind him.

They sat at a table in the centre of the room with an empty plate each in front of them.

All you have to do is think about what you would like to eat and it will magically appear on your plate.

Skylar thought for a moment and before she had time to finish her thought six perfectly round and fluffy pancakes fell from the sky directly onto her plate followed by maple syrup a dollop of cream and some strawberries.

The penguin's plate had a giant fish on it that was still flapping about.

Skylar was so hungry she ate all six pancakes in no time.

Skylar yawned and stretched I am really very tired and have had enough adventures for one day.

The penguin pointed to the sky.

Why don't you head up there for a rest he said.

Skylar wasn't sure exactly what he was talking about.

Follow the red path to the cloud stairs he explained.

Find yourself a soft cloud to curl up in and have a rest.

Skylar nodded thanked the penguin for his generosity and set off up the red path and to the cloud stairs.

The stairs were soft under her feet and as she moved up the staircase each stair lit up in different colors.

Once she reached the top she could see hundreds of cozy warm clouds that reminded her of her warm blankets on her own bed at home.

Skylar chose a cloud and lay down covering herself in a soft cloud blanket.

She was so tired from all her magical adventures that she drifted off to sleep.

She dreamt of the squirrel and the snowman,

The chocolate lake,

The golden ship,

Unicorns and the penguin on a biscuit.

She couldn't wait until the next time she could visit Coconut Mountain.

So so so so
