Let's take a moment now to Simply visit.
Our face.
Your face.
The face that you see each day in the mirror.
Face that might different feelings,
Different words of self-talk to arise.
When you look in the mirror.
Often there's aspects of our face that we think that aren't right.
So right now we're going to spend some time.
With your face.
And introducing some gratitude.
We're not going to use the mirror.
Just coming into some stillness,
Perhaps sitting in a comfortable chair or on your meditation cushion.
Taking three deep breaths into your tummy.
Doesn't matter whether you're breathing through your nose or your mouth.
These deep breaths.
And then after those three deep breaths,
Let your breath soften into its natural rate and rhythm.
And if your nose is clear,
Simply using your nose for your breath now.
And bringing your hands together.
Allow your hands to gently rest on each other and simply take your awareness into that contact surface between your palms.
Your fingers and between your thumbs.
Noticing coolness,
Warmth.
Noticing the pressure,
Maybe there's parts of your hands that touch more firmly and others that touch just lightly.
And is there an awareness of energy between the right hand and the left hand?
Gently now allow your hands to peel away from each other.
Take your hands all the way up onto the top of your head.
One hand cradling each side of the top of your head.
Once again,
Feeling into that sensation,
The sensation.
Against your palms,
Perhaps of your hair or your scalp.
And the sensation of the weight of your hands against your head itself.
Two sides to each of these sensations that you're experiencing.
Softly move your hands onto your forehead,
Your fingertips touching in the centre of your forehead.
Your fingers,
Hands wrapped around the corners of your forehead.
And know that just underneath the surface there.
Lies your brain.
Arguably the most important part of your body.
Safely tucked away there underneath the strong bones of your skull.
Yet working 24 hours a day.
Keeping you alive.
Processing memories.
Laying down the information you've learnt each day.
Recalling items at will.
Recognising faces.
Working out how you can get from A to B or cook a meal,
Write a letter.
Play music.
Gently breathe a breath of gratitude all the way into your brain.
Sliding your hands out to the sides.
And cupping your ears in the palms of your hands.
Allowing enough space that you can still hear the guidance.
But know that just underneath.
The shape of your ears,
The delicate shell shapes of flesh on the outside of your skull.
There lies an intricate network of canals,
Spaces,
Bones,
Liquid,
Hairs that allow you the miracle of hearing.
Sound waves imperceptibly entering your ear canals.
Sending mechanical energy through bones.
Turning it into electrical energy that goes up to your brain,
Interpreting sounds.
Allowing you to know where sounds are coming from.
Allowing you to be safe when crossing roads.
To hear the voice of your loved one.
And the beautiful sounds of nature.
Breathing a breath of gratitude to your ears.
And the miracle of hearing.
Allow your hands to move onto your eyes now.
Notice the darkness.
As your hands prevent light.
Entering your eyes.
Another miracle happens here.
Rays of light enter through your pupil.
Land on the retina at the back of your eye.
Electrical energy moves through the eye nerves up to your brain.
And you can see all those amazing things,
The sunset.
Face of your loved one.
Traffic.
Tiny Lady Bird.
And your face in the mirror each day.
Gently breathing a breath of gratitude to your eyes and the miracle of sight.
Let your hands rest near your nose.
As you breathe in,
Perhaps you can sense.
A fragrance on your hands,
Some soap or hand cream you've recently used.
Or perhaps you've been cooking,
Might be able to smell.
There's food on your hands.
Nose which breathes.
Almost every breath for you.
Which can alert you to danger,
The smell of smoke.
Chemicals.
Your nose which warms and humidifies the air that you breathe that's on its way to your lungs.
Breathe in a breath of gratitude to your nose.
Gently bringing your hands down onto your lips.
Your mouth.
Place you communicate from.
Speak your words,
Sing your songs.
Portal of entry of food and drinks,
Nutrition.
A place of smiles,
Of frowns.
A giver of kisses,
A receiver of kisses.
Gently let your fingers trail along your lips.
One of the most sensitive parts of your body.
And breathing a breath of gratitude to your lips,
Your mouth,
Your tongue,
Your teeth.
The whole of your face.
Part of you that the world sees most readily.
The part of you that sees and hears and tastes and smells the world around you.
Bring a gentle smile to your lips,
To your eyes.
Sitting for the next minute or so in gratitude.
For your face.
Mmm.
Connecting to your breath once again Recalling.
Miracle of your sight,
Your hearing,
Smell,
Taste.
And once again,
Bringing your hands together.
Connecting your palms,
Your fingers,
Your thumbs.
Gently bowing your head.
Gratitude and respect.
To yourself and your face.
