This yoga nidra is to help you to find rest and soak in the light of the full moon as it delivers healing energy and deep relaxation.
Using the power of the full moon,
Allow yourself to let go,
Reflect,
And manifest.
Begin to find a comfortable position.
Notice if you can be just 10% more comfortable.
Give yourself permission to let go of anything from earlier in this day or anything later to come.
As you settle into your comfortable position,
Welcome the environment around you.
Begin to welcome thoughts,
Sensations,
And feelings in your body.
Welcome any sounds far away or as close as the sound of your breath.
Welcome any smells that are present.
Welcome the taste within your mouth and the texture of the surface surrounding you.
Let the awareness be free of any expectations or judgments.
Begin to feel your body resting heavy on the surface beneath you.
Imagine you are being held by the good earth and the space between your body and the surface is becoming closer and closer as you release tension throughout the feet,
Legs,
Hips,
Shoulders,
Back,
And head.
Feel the muscles release.
You are held and supported.
There is nowhere you need to be and nothing you need to do at this very moment.
Feel softness spread throughout the entire body as you feel the rise and fall of the abdomen.
Feel the breath flowing effortlessly.
With each inhale and each breath,
Allow yourself to let go and soften more into this moment.
Taking a few more mindful breaths in the same way.
Inhale,
Breath rising.
Exhale,
Breath descending as you let go and soften.
At this moment,
You may choose to say an affirmation to yourself.
In yoga,
We call this a sankalpa or intention.
It may be a short positive statement in simple language.
Try to discover one naturally,
Something you want more than anything else in life.
When there is a full moon,
You can feel the moon's energy being released into the world.
This can be a powerful time to determine your full moon intentions and determine what you would like to release that may be holding you back.
Consider something you might release this full moon,
As well as something you would like to manifest.
And repeat those both to yourself now.
Now allow the sound of my voice to be your guide as we bring attention to different parts of the body.
As I name each area,
You may imagine the bright light of the moon shining down on you.
As you rest and relax in the light,
There is no need to move your body.
We begin with the mouth.
Bring attention to sensations inside the mouth.
Sending awareness to the roof of the mouth and floor.
Inside cheeks,
Left and right.
Back of the throat.
Tongue.
The entire mouth.
The ears.
Left ear.
Right ear.
Sensing both ears at the same time.
Welcoming the breath as pure sensation in the nose.
Left nostril and right nostril.
Both nostrils at the same time.
The eyes.
Left eye.
Right eye.
Both eyes together.
Sensing forehead,
Scalp,
Back of the head,
And neck.
Inside the throat.
Left shoulder.
Left upper arm.
Forearm.
Wrist.
Left palm.
And fingers.
The entire left arm.
Right shoulder.
Right upper arm.
Forearm.
Wrist.
Right palm.
And fingers.
The entire right arm.
Sensing both arms together as one bright light of sensation.
Upper chest.
Upper back.
Middle chest.
Middle back.
Abdomen.
Low back.
The entire torso.
Left hip.
Thigh.
Knee.
Shin.
Foot.
And toes.
The entire left leg.
Right hip.
Thigh.
Knee.
Shin.
Foot.
And toes.
The entire right leg.
Sensing both legs at the same time.
Relaxed and at ease.
Feeling and sensing the entire front of the body.
Back of the body.
Left side.
Right side.
Sensing the entire body inside and outside as a field of radiant sensation.
Observe the body and notice if there are any parts that do not feel relaxed.
Take a full breath in and on the exhale send the breath there now.
Bring awareness to the breath and begin to observe the breath at the abdomen.
Feel the body relaxed and at ease and allow the breath to flow naturally and deeply without effort.
Observe the subtle movement of the abdomen.
Feeling how it harmonizes with the rhythm of your breath and body.
As you breathe in feel the abdomen rise and as you breathe out the abdomen gently descends.
Begin to count your breath in and out slowly descending from 54 to 1.
Inhale breath rising 54.
Exhale breath descending 54.
Inhale breath rising 53.
Exhale breath descending 53.
Continue on with your breathing while maintaining awareness.
If you lose track of which number you're at you can start again at 54.
Release the control of your breath and rest here regardless of what number you have reached.
Feel your body resting and breathing naturally returning to a rhythmic pattern.
You might now begin to imagine yourself standing under a dark calm night sky.
Beside you is a quiet stream flowing.
The bright and brilliant full moon shines above you lighting up this night sky.
See the fullness,
The gorgeous shimmering light shining down like a waterfall over the stream.
You welcome the light as it flows through you and all around you.
Welcome and experience this healing moon's light.
See the colors surrounding you as the moon transforms into whatever light you imagine.
See this color and vibrancy surrounding you.
Experience the soothing,
Healing light of the full moon relaxing you.
Begin to focus on the screen behind your closed eyes.
Visualize this dark screen like the night sky.
Observe an image of the full moon forming.
Witness the vibrant moonlight and allow this image to fill your attention completely.
Now allow the picture of the full moon to fade into darkness and see only infinite darkness behind closed eyes.
Experience a feeling of deep stillness within you and around you.
Immersed in this state of deep serenity.
Divine energy flowing within you and all around.
Sense the awareness here as full and free.
Feeling and sensing a deep inner peace resonating through you as you rest here.
Complete contentment and light.
Now you may remember your intention made at the beginning of the practice.
Repeating your statement to yourself now with trust and certainty that it will manifest in your life.
Bring your attention to the heart space deep within you.
Going further within your heart to look for that place of stillness,
Joy,
And relaxation.
This is your personal place of rest.
Let awareness rest here.
Complete contentment and light.
You deserve to rest.
Nourish this feeling as you drift off into a deep rest.
Or you may choose to bring the meditation to an end by softly awakening fingers and toes,
Wrists and ankles.
Taking your time to move mindfully as you make your way towards one side of the body.
Resting on one side before making your way back up to a comfortable seat.
Here we complete the practice of yoga nidra.
