Let's begin by taking some time to get really comfortable maybe fluffing your pillows,
Grabbing an extra blanket or simply finding a position that feels really good to you you can pause here if you need to take some more time to do this and once you're comfortable,
Take a moment to really feel the weight of your body sinking down into the mattress or the surface beneath you feeling that you're safely held and supported here now just beginning to take some deeper breaths extending your exhale slowly sending a gentle signal to your body that you're here in this moment,
Ready to unwind and relax and now you can turn your attention inwards maybe noticing any thoughts or emotions,
Anything that might be making it difficult to switch off and rest maybe there's a part of you that's checking a mental to-do list a part that's worried about what's coming tomorrow or maybe a hard-working part feeling responsible for everything you didn't quite get to finish today see if you can just notice whatever's here and gently let each of these ones know that you sense them there with you notice how they're feeling some parts might be tense or buzzing or holding tight they might be feeling anxious or stressed or desperate to keep going see if you can get a sense of appreciation or gratitude for these parts who care so deeply and work so hard for you you could imagine sending this warm loving gratitude towards them letting them know in words,
Energy or both i see how hard you're working thank you for all you're doing to help and see if they can notice your calm and loving presence there with them let them know that you're here with them to help them you might imagine these parts turning towards you or moving closer to you and if it feels supportive you may want to offer to physically write down anything that parts might want you to remember for tomorrow and you can pause the meditation to do this if that feels right and if they still feel like they need to keep holding on to their plans,
Worries or thoughts see if you can offer them a secure place to put this stuff down just for tonight it could be an imaginary box,
A safe cabinet,
Or a desk where all the files can be put away and kept safe until the morning imagine taking that heavy to-do list,
That worry,
Those plans and placing them into that safe container you can even lock it,
Put a lid on it,
With the promise that you will return to it tomorrow you can tell these parts,
You don't have to carry this tonight i'll be here to help you look after things tomorrow you can rest now and see if they feel any relief at the thought of putting everything down for a few hours if there are still parts that feel anxious or restless you can gently place a hand where you feel them most strongly perhaps in your head,
Your heart,
Your stomach just a point of contact to remind them i am here you're safe and you can just stay here in this quiet space and if your mind wanders back to something,
That's okay just gently noticing the part that brought you there thanking it for its care and inviting it to step back and rest you can check and see if these hardworking parts would like a place to rest tonight instead of just switching off perhaps they'd like a space of their own maybe a soft hammock a big bed to sink into with a cosy,
Heavy blanket or perhaps a quiet garden where they can simply sit and watch the stars if it feels right,
You can visualize them moving to that place knowing they can rest there,
Undisturbed,
Until the morning as these busy managers begin to soften and rest you might notice other feelings coming to the surface sometimes when the busyness stops the more vulnerable parts of us ones that feel lonely or small or hurt in some way finally feel it's quiet enough to be heard so if you notice something rising up that's okay you don't need to fix it or figure out where it's coming from just gently say to it i see you i'm here now it's okay imagine offering these parts whatever soothing care they need right now perhaps it's a warm light surrounding them a gentle hand being held let them know they don't have to carry these feelings alone you are here and you're not going anywhere let them know they're safe with you and if these parts feel tired invite them to rest alongside you too perhaps just as those managers have their hammocks or beds these young tender parts can find a place of safety they could curl up close to your heart snuggle down in a cozy bed,
Cradle or crib or simply be held by warm golden light let your whole body your whole system know we are safe the day is done you can rest now there is nothing left to do tonight feel your breath moving in and out like a slow tide there is nothing left to do there is nowhere else to be let yourself sink into the mattress let yourself be held here for now you are allowed to just be breathe into the stillness and allow yourself to drift gently towards sleep
