This is a meditation practice to welcome the day,
No matter what day it is or what time of day or where you are.
Let this meditation practice be a companion to welcome what is from a place of ease and grace.
And a comfortable meditation posture.
And begin by looking around you with open eyes.
Look around your room.
Take in your surroundings.
Look out the window.
And notice the weather pattern as it passes by the sky.
And welcome with ease,
Equally a snowy day as a clear blue sky.
Now close your eyes down.
Become aware of your body breathing.
With each passing breath,
Allow your awareness to settle more intimately into your body and to this moment,
Just as it is.
How do you feel?
Check in with your physical body.
You'll notice areas of ease as well as areas that may feel tense.
Welcome them both.
Allow yourself to soften into an experience of acceptance.
Notice the thoughts that travel across the field of your mind.
Do not judge them.
Simply notice whatever it is that's occupying your space right now.
And now as easily as thoughts enter your field,
Allow them to pass on by.
You watch your thoughts without hooking in.
And you soften into acceptance.
Begin to notice the sounds around you.
These could be sounds that are coming from within your space or possibly sounds that filter in from the neighborhood.
So labeling certain sounds as good or bad or pleasurable or not.
You simply hear the sounds for what they are,
Simply notes a part of the soundscape of your experience.
And you soften into acceptance.
Once again you'll become aware of your body breathing.
Gently blink your eyes open.
Look around your room.
Look out the window.
Welcome your day with ease and grace.
