Is The Surangama Sutra Authentic?

The most important sutra in Buddhism, the Surangama Sutra, has been slandered by the spread of false statements made hundreds of years ago, that continue to be parroted as truth by academicians and translators alike. Is it the Sutra’s descriptions of wrong views, wrong practice, misuse of spiritual powers, and misdeeds of deviant teachers that have inflamed the attacks against it? This is important because it contains the meditation practice that the Buddha said we all need to survive our time.
