Hello,
My name is Seth David Clark,
And welcome to this time of prayer.
Today as we enter this time of prayer,
Let us slow down our hearts by slowing down our breath.
We are reminded,
God is closer to us than our very breath.
The Spirit of God moves in and through us,
Even more deeply than the breath deep inside our lungs.
And with that in mind,
In gratitude we pray along with David by saying,
The heavens declare the glory of God,
And the firmament showeth his handiwork.
Day unto day uttereth speech,
And night unto night showeth knowledge.
There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
Their line is gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
His going forth is from the end of the heaven,
And is circuit unto the ends of it,
And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
Converting the soul.
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
Making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right,
Rejoicing the heart.
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
Enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean,
Enduring forever.
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea,
Than much fine gold,
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Keep back thy servant also From presumptuous sins.
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then shall I be upright,
And I shall be innocent From the great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth And the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in thy sight,
O Lord,
My strength And my Redeemer.
And let us pray over that psalm again in another translation,
Knowing that the same God from three thousand or so years ago Is right there in the room or the car Or on the walk with you even now.
God who is the Maker of the heavens,
The Maker of the earth,
The giver of life,
Is right here with us Across space and across time.
And so we pray.
The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
Day after day they pour out speech,
And night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
Their voice has gone out Through all the earth,
Their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set A tent for the sun,
Which is as a bridegroom Coming out of his room,
Like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.
His going out is from the end of the heavens,
His circuit to its end.
There is nothing hidden from its heat.
Yahweh's law is perfect,
Restoring the soul.
Yahweh's covenant is sure,
Making wise the simple.
Yahweh's precepts are right,
Rejoicing the heart.
Yahweh's commandment is pure,
Enlightening the eyes.
The fear of Yahweh is clean,
Enduring forever.
Yahweh's ordinances are true And righteous altogether.
They are more to be desired Than gold,
Yes,
Than much fine gold,
Sweeter also than honey And the extract of the honeycomb.
Moreover,
Your servant is warned by them,
In keeping them there is great reward.
Who can discern his errors?
Forgive me from hidden errors.
Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins.
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I will be upright,
I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth And the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in your sight,
Yahweh,
My rock and my Redeemer.
Let us continue in a time of prayer and meditation now as the music continues.
And even after it ends,
You are invited by God to meditate and pray on who God is and what God has done and what God has said in the history of the world and in your life.
So remain with your focus on the God of light and of life.
Aum,
Aum,
Aum,
Aum,
Aum.
You You You You You You You You You Amen
