
Inner Child Healing

Often, our emotions are hard to discern. Either we can have an abundance of overwhelming feelings, felt simultaenously, or not be feeling anything much at all. Both of these states can leave us rileing and seeking mental clarity. In this incredibly soothing guided meditation, take a walk into the heart of your imagination and meet with your precious inner child. Here, in this space, your heart will be nourished, your mind will gain clarity, and your body, will become filled with ease.
Transcript
Welcome to this journey of the heart.
We will take some time to connect with that precious inner child that resides inside.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable seat.
You can sit in a chair or sit cross-legged on the floor with something to support your spine.
Feel as if there's a string in the top of your head lengthening you up toward the sky.
The chin is slightly tucked.
The hips relax.
The belly softens.
The shoulders relax down.
The muscles in the face soften.
Even those small muscles around the eyes,
The mouth,
The forehead,
They all begin to relax.
Allow your breath to become a little deeper,
A little more full with each inhalation and exhalation.
Sense how supported your body is by the earth beneath you,
By the seat beneath you.
And as you breathe,
Begin to feel or sense a warmth in your heart center,
That space in the center of the chest.
Take a deep breath into the heart center.
And as you exhale,
Feel this warmth begin to expand through your body.
Another deep breath in.
And as you exhale again,
Feel this sense of warmth or ease expanding through your whole body.
Bring your awareness to the sensations of the body.
Simply noticing nothing to change or no need to adjust your body.
Just become aware of what's happening inside.
Now bring your awareness to your mind,
The mind that is often so active.
Begin to notice what thoughts are present.
Is the mind running to the future thinking about something later in the day or the evening?
Is it replaying a painful or joyful story from something that's already happened?
Simply notice what's happening in the thoughts.
And now let us bring our awareness to the emotions.
So often our experience of our emotions is like a pool of muddy water,
Meaning it's hard to really discern what we're feeling because there's so much we're feeling.
Or maybe sometimes we don't feel much of anything,
There's a sense of numbness.
So let's just take a moment to notice what emotions are here.
Something that can be helpful is to start by noticing if there's a place in the body where there's a strong sense of discomfort.
And as you feel that discomfort in the body,
You might notice,
Oh wow,
This is an experience of sadness or this is an experience of anger.
Or maybe it's just a strong sensation in the body and you recognize this is the feeling of joy or anticipation.
So let's take a moment to begin to notice what emotions are present.
Again,
Nothing to judge.
The emotions come and go like the tide.
Simply notice.
Let's take a deep breath in and exhale through the mouth with a little sigh.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
One more.
Allow the breath to be full and relaxed at the same time.
There's this sense of ease that comes as the breath naturally moves in and out.
The jaw is relaxed,
Slight part between the lips.
On your next inhalation,
Imagine you're breathing in all of the love of creation.
And as you exhale,
You release all of which no longer serve.
Deep breath in,
Feeling this sense of breathing in all of this love and support.
Deep breath out,
Letting go.
Continue in this way for the next few moments,
Breathing in this sense of great love and breathing out that which no longer serves,
Which you are ready to release.
Feel again this sense of support beneath you.
And this sense of warmth in and around you.
Imagine now a beautiful place.
A place so beautiful it fills you with a sense of ease and calm.
Maybe this place is in nature and you see the beauty all around you.
Flowers,
Trees.
Maybe there's a river or an ocean.
Begin to sense the breeze.
How does the air feel on your skin?
What smells do you notice?
What sounds are around you?
Do you hear the sounds of birds,
Of the water or maybe the trees blowing in the wind?
Maybe there's music.
Take in all of this beauty around you.
Feel yourself becoming more and more at ease in this beautiful safe place.
See yourself now walking along a path.
And the further you walk along this path,
The more warmth you feel.
Maybe the sun is shining upon you.
And as you walk,
You feel lighter and lighter.
With each step,
It feels easier to let go of any concerns.
And now you've come to a place in the path that opens up to a wide open space.
This beautiful,
Beautiful place.
Even more beautiful than where you began this journey.
And as you walk into this space,
You see a beautiful tree.
This tree that reminds you of the feeling of deep peace.
You find yourself walking towards this tree,
Admiring its beauty and strength.
And as you come closer,
You see there's someone sitting at the tree waiting for you.
Your own inner child is right here and has been waiting for you.
See the eyes of your inner child looking back at you.
There's so much your inner child wishes to express to you.
And maybe there are things you wish to say and express to your inner child.
Know that whatever is occurring is perfectly okay.
At times,
Relationships need healing.
Even the relationship with our own precious inner child.
Allow your inner child the room to speak from the heart.
And listen from your true heart.
Feel gratitude for this opportunity to listen to your inner child.
Feel gratitude for this gift to connect and to be with this part of you.
This part of you that has been waiting for your return.
If there's anything you wish to say to this precious part of you,
I invite you to speak from your heart.
And listen from your true heart.
Take a deep breath in and sigh on the exhalation.
If there's anything that your inner child is needing from you,
Allow these words to be spoken now.
Are you willing to accept this part of yourself and to show up and offer what your inner child is needing from you now?
It's okay if you weren't able to give it before.
This is a new moment with new possibilities.
And if there's anything you are needing from your inner child,
Speak this now.
Feel this beautiful space of love and connection that has been created.
This space of listening and understanding,
Of acceptance and love.
If it feels right,
You may wish to invite your inner child into your heart.
You may wish to embrace your inner child and feel that you've never been apart for even a moment.
You are simply waiting to experience each other again.
Welcome the joy of your inner child.
Welcome the creativity,
The passion and zest for life,
The radiance,
The vitality.
This is you.
This is not separate from you.
Your inner child is living in you as you in this very moment.
So welcome,
Welcome,
Welcome your inner child.
Welcome life.
Welcome love.
Holding this precious experience in your heart,
Feel a sense of peace and completion.
And know that you can return to this sacred place anytime and speak with your inner child.
This beautiful,
Safe place is always here for you.
As you begin to turn back towards the path,
You may feel that your inner child is inside of your own beating heart.
Or maybe you wish to walk hand in hand together,
Making your way back down the path.
Feel this new sense of life and radiance in and around you.
And as the path ends,
You find yourself back where you started in this beautiful place.
You hear the sounds around you.
You take in this exquisite beauty,
Knowing that this is always available.
Before you choose to leave this place for now,
Choose a statement that reminds you of the gifts you receive today.
This may be something like,
I am always loved.
Or I am always connected to my inner child.
My inner child is me.
Or maybe I am safe in the world.
Whatever it is for you,
Choose a statement that will remind you of this precious experience.
Once you've chosen this statement,
Repeat it to yourself three times.
Let us take a deep breath in and out.
Let us take a deep,
Full breath in and out.
Begin to sense the room around you,
The sensation of your body on the seat.
Slowly begin to move the body,
Maybe move the head a little side to side.
Begin to close the mouth.
As you're ready,
Slowly open the eyes.
See the beauty in everything around you.
There is always beauty to be found.
There is always love.
